Aloha from Hawaii! There is not more that I can say that haven't already been expressed so eloquently here by many others. So on behalf of Kona Hawaii's WTCQD I would like to say a big Mahalo (thank you) to Margaret and David-Dorian Ross,  congratulations for a wonderful job making all of this monumental task come together. Especially to the founders Bill Douglas and Angela Wong Douglas of World Tai Chi Qigong Day, without you and those behind the scenes, there would have been no event, no live streaming. The Live Stream efforts allow the World Tai Chi Qigong Day event to become indeed... One World, One Breath.

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day 2016 - Philippines

Brgy. South Triangle, Quezon City

Welcome Remarks
By Irene Chia
Director of Peace Blossoms Internal Arts Society

Good morning everyone and welcome to the 2016 World Tai Chi and Qigong Day celebration in the Philippines. World Tai Chi and Qigong Day is a global event that is celebrated every last Saturday of April with the goal of promoting the health and healing benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong. Founded by Bill Douglas and Angela Wong Douglas in 1999 in Kansas City, it is now celebrated in over 80 countries. The celebration starts at 10 am in New Zealand and ends at 10 am in Hawaii. This means that for one whole day, our entire planet will be engulfed by healing energy.

In the Philippines, the first WTCQD celebration was held in 2003. It was an informal gathering organized by the Blue Dragon Society. The succeeding celebrations were jointly organized by the Blue Dragon Society, Chevalier Monks of Christ, and Spring of Harmony Internal Arts Club which is now named Peace Blossoms Internal Arts Society. From a handful of individuals, less than 15 people or so, the attendance in this celebration grew to __ this year.

Why is WORLD TAI CHI & QIGONG DAY significant?

"Because it brings humanity together around health and healing connection AND IT CAN SAVE GLOBAL SOCIETY TRILLIONS IN SAVED HEALTH CARE COSTS!"

WTCQD brings together people from diverse backgrounds all over the world--people from different races, faiths, ethnicities, ages, and geo-political and social backgrounds.

24 HOURS OF WORLD PEACE
This is also the first time that the Philippines will join the 24 Hours of World Peace, a global livestream of WTCQD events around the world. David-Dorian Ross and his team have been coordinating this live stream for a few years now. David-Dorian Ross is the host and star of the National PBS Tai Chi Program Fame. Peace Blossoms thanks Jeffrey Copiaco and his team and Ton Delgado for making the Philippines livestream possible. To view 24 hours of live streaming of WTCQD, visit worldtaichiday.org or taijifit.net. Over 60 WTCQD event organizers worldwide have committed to videotaping bits of their World Tai Chi & Qigong Day 2016 events.

THEME: Spring of Harmony (bukal ng pagkakaisa)

I will start with the WTCQD logo. In the logo, you can see two symbols overlapping--the Yin Yang Symbol and Da Vinci's Vitruvian man. Yin Yang is the eastern symbol for balance and harmony. It is the symbol of Tai Chi. The Vitruvian man is a Western symbol for balance and health.

When you look at the logo of Peace Blossoms, you will see a multi-colored lotus and the Yin Yang symbol in the middle of the lotus.

Our organization, Peace Blossoms Internal Arts Society, is a non-profit, non-sectarian, non-political, and non-racial organization. We promote peace, harmony and unity among diverse groups through the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong. The multi-colored lotus represents tolerance and respect for diversity among others.

Peace Blossoms promotes Tai Chi and Qigong as a way to harmonize body, mind and spirit, in attaining holistic health for the self and the community. This is represented by the Yin Yang symbol.

Why is it important to have balance and harmony?

When we talk about health, we get sick when there is an imbalance or disharmony in the energies in our body. It is being proven more and more by science that many of our diseases are mental in nature, meaning our thoughts cause our diseases. This is why balance in our life is important.

Regular practice of Tai Chi and Qigong helps keep one balanced on many levels--physical, emotional, mental or psychological, and spiritual. It helps bring about a sense of well-being by balancing the emotions. It also helps bring about a sense of personal empowerment by building one's will and strength.

And this is why it is our wish that more people will embrace the way of Tai Chi and Qigong, so that more people will become better, healthier and happier individuals.

To all our sponsors, performers, participants and supporters, thank you very much for making this gathering possible. More power to us!

Before I close, I will read to you the Opening Statement by Bill and Angela Wong Douglas, founders of World Tai Chi and Qigong Day ...

Dear World Tai Chi & Qigong Day Supporters & Participants,

This global wave of goodwill provides a vision of hope and healing
to a world hungry for such visions. Each year to view the photos of
people from different cultures, religions, and every corner of the
earth . . . breathing together . . . in this global Tai Chi & Qigong
movement . . . is profound.

When you look thru the photographs and videos you see that
"look" on people's faces, a look that conveys a feeling that all
of us who've experienced the well-being that Qi, or life energy,
expands through our mind and body when we make the space
to breathe . . . and to let, calm, and wellness expand thru us.

When you see that look in all these diverse faces, from so many
different lands, you can't help but deeply realize that we are
indeed "one world . . . and, . . . one breath."

We are all connected by the field of life energy that physicists
are now discovering permeates all existence.

By emersing ourselves in the field of life energy again and again,
we become more and more grounded in the absolute reality
that . . . we are all connected . . . all part of the web of life. And,
by cultivating and growing the realization personally and globally,
we may help in a subtle quiet way to usher in a more elegant
future that nurtures us all in ways we cannot yet even imagine.

Again, thank you for making this extraordinary event and
health movement possible thru your organizing and
participation each year.

Sincerely,

Bill Douglas & Angela Wong Douglas,
Co-Founders of World Tai Chi & Qigong Day

TAI CHI FUN ZONE
Movie recommendations ...

This Movie Recommendation section in no way represents or reflects the World Tai Chi & Qigong Day event, it is a personal contribution by WTCQD Founder, Bill Douglas, who aside from teaching Tai Chi, and organizing WTCQD, is a movie buff :-)

Remember the Titans, Denzel Washington
A football film, which includes a character from California (where I learned Tai Chi), who is referred to as Sunshine (played by Kip Pardue), who is the quarterback of the Titans, the football team in this film. Sunshine is a Tai Chi practitioner, whose Tai Chi skills makes him very hard to tackle. This film is based on a true story, and is an extremely fun, intelligent, and uplifting story about human connection.

Show it to your kids, it may make them want to learn Tai Chi when they see this endearing character's Tai Chi skills and what a great athlete they make him :-)
