From February 2020 to February 2021, the Tulare County Employment Report showed an increase of 0.1 percent in the unemployment rate and a 6.1 percent decrease in jobs. Additional highlights from the recent report include: 


  • Tulare County's unemployment rate was 11.4 percent in February 2021, slightly higher than the revised year-ago estimate of 11.3 percent. 
  • Year over year, employment decreased by 7,400 and the labor force decreased by 8,200.
  • For the past ten months, the unemployment rate in Tulare County has been lower than the unemployment rate in Los Angeles County; this has not occurred in any time for which data is available, going back to 1990.

HOW DOES TULARE COUNTY'S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE CHANGE OVER TIME?
The California Employment Development Department (EDD) reported a 0.1 percent increase in Tulare County's unemployment rate from a revised 11.3 percent in February 2020 to 11.4 percent in February 2021. 

The month-over-month unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 percent, from a revised 11.5 percent in January 2021 to 11.4 percent in February 2021.

HOW MANY JOBS HAVE COME AND GONE IN THE LAST YEAR & THE LAST MONTH?
YEAR OVER YEAR | A COMPARISON
From February 2020 to February 2021, Retail Trade showed the greatest numerical and percent gains with an increase of 300 jobs and growth of 1.9 percent. Professional & Business Services showed the greatest numerical decline with a loss of 2,900 jobs, while Arts, Entertainment & Recreation showed the greatest percent decline with a job loss of 50.0 percent.
MONTH OVER MONTH | A COMPARISON
From January to February 2021, Food Services & Drinking Places showed the greatest month-over numerical gain with an increase of 900 jobs, while Accommodation showed the greatest percent gain with job growth of 100.0 percent. Farm showed the greatest month-over numerical decline with a loss of 800 jobs, while Wholesale Trade showed the greatest percent decline with a loss of 2.4 percent.
