From November 2019 to November 2021...
Through the rest of the year, the year-over-year analysis in this newsletter will compare data from the current year to data from 2019. This shift will allow us to compare the pre-pandemic data to current labor market information, and help us provide a better analysis of the economic recovery.

Highlights from the recent report include:

  • From November 2019 to November 2021, the unemployment rate in Tulare County decreased by 1.1 percent, while jobs decreased by 0.1 percent
  • The 8.2 percent unemployment rate represents the lowest November unemployment rate for Tulare County in over a decade
  • From November 2019 to November 2021, employment increased by 2,000, and the labor force increased by 200
  • From October to November of this year, the industry with the largest numerical month-over growth was Local Government (Education), while Farm experienced the largest month-over numerical loss in jobs

HOW DOES TULARE COUNTY'S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE CHANGE OVER TIME?
The California Employment Development Department (EDD) reported a 1.1 percent decrease in Tulare County's unemployment rate, from a revised 9.3 percent in November 2019 to 8.2 percent in November 2021. 

The average October to November unemployment rate change is an increase of 0.2 percent. From October to November of 2021, the month-over-month unemployment rate decreased by 1.0 percent.

HOW MANY JOBS HAVE COME AND GONE IN THE LAST YEAR & THE LAST MONTH?
2019 TO 2021 | A COMPARISON
From November 2019 to November 2021, Transportation, Warehousing & Utilities and Farm shared the greatest year-over numerical gain with an increase of 1,300 jobs, while Transportation, Warehousing & Utilities showed the greatest percent gain with job growth of 17.1 percent. Educational & Health Services showed the greatest numerical decline with a loss of 800 jobs, while Arts, Entertainment & Recreation showed the greatest percent decline with a job loss of 30.0 percent.
MONTH OVER MONTH | A COMPARISON
From October to November 2021, Local Government (Education) showed the greatest month-over numerical and percent gains with an increase of 1,400 jobs and job growth of 8.6 percent. Farm showed the greatest month-over numerical decrease with a loss of 600 jobs, while Federal Government showed the greatest percent decline with a loss of 10.0 percent of jobs.
