When Business Relationships Become Personal

Our Be A Santa To A Senior campaign begins as early as August every year. Emails, touching base, and preparations. This year was no different.

We had Sara Aquino from Atlantic Portable X-ray on board with her Elf crew again (the adorable Bodhi) and Ashley Haldeman from Oasis Senior Advisors Delaware joined the festivities this year. We had made most of the pickup-ups and deliveries and in the final week were preparing for last minute need-to-do activities. We were also preparing for some of the site parties we would attend.

On the Saturday before, I (as Head Elf) was devastated. My son was in an accident as a backseat passenger with his best friend and a friend who tragically lost her life. BASTAS came to a screeching halt.

With him being hospitalized, I couldn't attend any of the events or attend to last-minute needs. I called Ashley and Sara and both took charge. Anything that was needed was done, pictures were taken and sent and they represented the Home Instead BASTAS program with professionalism and warmth.

This is what our fellow Chamber partners do. This is a perfect example of how professional relations that are built in the Chamber network can foster and grow personal relationships.

These professional friends stepped up to the plate and even our own Worcester County Chamber President Kerrie hoped in to offer support and offered to organize a meal if needed. They each went above and beyond and have continued to touch base and offer support as we move through this season.

My Home Instead family rallied around us, supported us, and were patient during this event. For that, my family is eternally grateful as well.

I share this with you not only to say thank you to everyone but to remind all our Chamber partners, you are surrounded by high-caliber people. Business-minded people who have the heart to lend a hand in a time of crisis. Entrepreneurs who support you, even in an unrelated field. Most importantly, people who become friends.

Be A Santa is proud to have provided 922 gifts to our elderly neighbors this year. This success will not be forgotten in the many years to come. Many thanks to all.

Warmly,

Can You Hear Me Now?

The Eastern Shore ENT & Allergy office welcomes all for routine hearing and balance exams. But did you know our ENT practice also has hearing aid options? Our office offers a 2 week no cost demo trial

What is a hearing aid demo trial?

After seeing the ENT and receiving a hearing test we can set you up an appointment to discuss hearing aid options with the Audiologist. At that appointment the audiologist can set up hearing aids you will get to try out for two weeks. When you come back after the two week trial you then make the decision if hearing aids are the right choice for you.

What type of hearing aids do we sell?

We work with two of the top hearing aid manufacturers on the market.

Oticon and Signia

How to recognize it is time to try hearing aids?

If you are not sure if it is time to try hearing aids, a hearing test is always a great place to start. Since we are an ENT office, we will recommend hearing aids if appropriate.

A few examples that suggest it might be time to get a hearing test:

  • Asking others to repeat themselves
  • constantly
  • Isolate from social activities
  • Turning the TV up high
  • Trouble hearing over the phone

Who is the Audiologist?

Matilda Kennedy-Butler, Au.D. CCC-A is from Bel Air, MD. She went to Nova South Eastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL for her doctorate in Audiology. Matilda loves working with all ages and was inspired to pursue the career of Audiology through her little brother who was born with hearing loss.

To get scheduled for a hearing test please call 410-641-4582

The lowdown on the

Long Shot

Superior fishing in the White Marlin Capital of the World! This fishing machine is a 2006 55' Custom Carolina Sportfisher, powered by twin Caterpillar engines. This combination of build and power provide a fast cruise with the famed Carolina ride. Before calling Ocean City home, Hooked Up II, as she was previously named, spent her days with Captain John Sowerby fishing from Cape May, NJ.

Now calling Ocean City, MD home, Long Shot will fish from NJ to NC. She will go where the fish are chewing. Utilizing all modern techniques, we target Tuna, Marlin, Mahi, Wahoo, and Shark. The crew also loves to deep drop for delicacies of the oceans bottom such as Seabass, Tilefish, Swordfish, Snowy Grouper, and Rosefish make for delicious dinner treats. With a variety of gear and a dedicated crew, you can assure no fish is safe. If you have a dream trip or a trophy fish to catch, let Long Shot make it happen.
