Worcester Goes Purple is an awareness project to engage the community in preventing substance abuse and promoting healthy life choices.
Should you or someone you know be in need, they have many resources. In or out patient programs, recovery homes, medication assisted treatments, alternative therapies, and group meetings. They also provide training for Narcan. Does someone in your office know how to administer and have a supply? How about at home? Call them to schedule a training.
In a position where you can volunteer? Awesome! They are an all volunteer nonprofit that has helped hundreds of our neighbors and family members. They could use a hand from time to time.
In just the past few months, our community has lost several young people to fentanyl overdose. We must educate and warn our children of these dangers. As much as we'd like to hide from such tragedies, we can't, they are here. Learn more about how to avoid them, how to educate on them

Maryland Businesses Brace for Widespread Impact of
Key Bridge Tragedy
The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in the early morning hours of March 26, 2024 has sent shockwaves throughout the Maryland business community.
As efforts to recover lives lost in the tragedy take place, Maryland leaders and agencies are also looking ahead to assess the short and long-term economic repercussions of this catastrophic event on residents, businesses, and the state's economy as a whole.
“The economic impact that’s going to be felt by Baltimore and the state of Maryland is incomprehensible,” Kane said in an interview with The Daily Record earlier this week. “It doesn’t just affect Maryland. This affects the entire East Coast up to the Mississippi.”
The Key Bridge carries an estimated 12.4 million vehicles annually, including more than 35,000 commuters, trucks and vital goods and services each day. Its collapse has effectively severed Maryland's main East-West connection, crippling the Port of Baltimore and disrupting businesses and jobs throughout the Baltimore-Washington corridor.
As Kane has noted "Our economy is already considered stagnant, and our state faces budget challenges. This tragedy could make those far more severe."
In the face of this adversity, the business community is urging patience and long-term adjustments while vowing to play an active role in the recovery process.
Our President & CEO, Mary D. Kane, has stepped forward to provide critical perspectives on this situation. Explore her insights in the following stories and media appearances:
The Maryland Chamber of Commerce is working to create a joint response effort to assist businesses, communities, and residents:

Introducing Boho Bungalow
Welcome to Boho Bungalow in Ocean Pines, Maryland located in Manklin Creek Station. Nestled within our community lies a treasure trove of creativity and craftmanship.
As you step inside, you’re greeted by an eclectic blend of locally sourced pieces along with the scents of Sandy Bottom hand-poured candles. Full of individuality and charm you will find a variety of truly one-of-a-kind pieces.
At Boho Bungalow, you can find collections of home décor, wall art, bath products, pottery, gifts galore, and plenty of scent varieties for your home. This home and gift shop believes in celebrating and supporting the remarkable creativity found right here in our own backyard. Whether you’re adding a touch of personality to your home or searching for an unforgettable gift we couldn’t be more thrilled to help!
One of our proud offerings and where it all began is scents from Sandy Bottom Candle Co. Every candle is hand-poured and starts off with our signature base of beach sand. We use only the highest quality ingredients such as: 100% soy wax, phthalate free fragrance, essential oils, and a natural crackling wood wick. Speaking through scent has been our passion since 2019. We are so grateful for how far Sandy Bottom Candles has come from making candles at home in the kitchen to having various boutiques carry our collection, to moving into a making space, to opening our storefront. Through all of this we were able to exhibit at markets and events along the east coast, meeting the talented makers that very much inspired the shop and fill our shelves.
In a world of mass production, Boho Bungalow stands for authenticity and originality. We invite you to experience it for yourself, come immerse yourself in a world where every item has a story to tell, and every corner reveals a new delight. Join us and discover the joy of shopping locally. Step inside, take in the scenery and scents, and be inspired. Your perfect piece awaits.
Opening our doors in November 2023 has been the greatest joy. We are excited to invite you to our ribbon cutting celebration which will take place Thursday, April 25th at 4:30 pm. We will be offering refreshing drinks from 4-7pm, we hope you can come sip and shop with us for this special occasion. Thank you for the warm welcome to the community and all the continued support, it means the world! Embrace the artisan spirit. Embrace Boho Bungalow. Shop locally and celebrate creativity.
