The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for a Library Page for the Worcester Public Library. Under the direction of the Assistant Manager of Circulation, the Library Page is a part-time position, assisting staff in the Circulation Services Division of the Main Branch location. The incumbent will possess great organizational skills, have a strong sense of attention to detail, and be motivated and excited to work in a busy public library setting. The ideal person in this position will possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills and have experience working with diverse populations in an urban community. Must work at least 12 hours weekly. The schedule will include evening and weekend assignments and working at other locations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Prior experience with community public service work and/or data entry experience
  • Successfully pass CORI/SORI
  • Reliable transportation to travel between required locations

SALARY: $15.00 hourly, part-time, 12-19 hours per week.

PROGRAM FACILITATOR

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

The City of Worcester seeks applicants for the position of Program Facilitator (Administrative Assistant, Gr 6) within its MassHire Central Career Center for the Executive Office of Economic Development. Under the direction of the ATR Program Supervisor, the Program Facilitator will work closely with the Access to Recovery (ATR) program partners, oversee the cohort career pathway curriculum activities, and provide administrative support to other Career Center teams. The ATR Paths to Empowerment (P2E) Program is a 3-week, 60-hour course that addresses the unique barriers that people in early recovery face when seeking employment, and assist participants become job ready. The position will co-facilitate curriculum, provide support, and case management to program participants, complete documentation and narrative reports, and regularity collaborate with community and outside agencies to ensure program success. The ATR Program Facilitator will be required to travel between sites based on operational needs.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Human Services, or related field OR;

- An equivalent combination of education and experience that

provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the required

duties of the position will be considered in lieu of the above-

mentioned requirements.

  • Experience with group facilitation and/or case management
  • Experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, & Twitter
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite and Online platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • A Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation

SALARY RANGE: $25.83 - $31.18 hourly, full-time, with an excellent benefits package.

ASSISTANT CITY SOLICITOR I

LAW DEPARTMENT

The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for an Assistant City Solicitor I to join the fast-paced, high-volume collaborative and congenial Law Department. Under the direction of the City Solicitor, the attorney will provide competent and timely legal services, advice, and recommendations to the City Manager, City Council and the City’s officers, employees, boards, and commissions. The Assistant City Solicitor will work in both the Advice and Counsel and Litigation Divisions of the Law Department. Advice and Counsel attorneys render legal opinions to City officers, departments, boards, and commissions, prepares responses to public records requests, drafts legal documents such as ordinances, legislative acts, and the review/drafting of contracts. The candidate will also provide litigation services in which the candidate will be advocating on behalf of the city in administrative hearings and state courts. The assignments will be based on overall related legal experience and demonstrated proficiency in a local government setting. While expertise may be gained in a specialized area of municipal law, the incumbent assumes responsibility for legal matters in any area as assigned by the City Solicitor.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school
  • One (1) year of experience in the practice of law
  • Massachusetts Bar member in good standing
  • Valid motor vehicle operator’s license


SALARY RANGE: $75,721 - $99,410 annually, full-time, exempt, with an excellent benefits package.

ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF OPERATIONS

The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for an Assistant Commissioner of Operations to oversee the divisions within the Department of Public Works & Parks (DPW&P). Under the direction of the Commissioner, the position will be responsible for the operations related to but not limited to snow and ice operations, and the maintenance of streets, sanitation, and the central garage. The Assistant Commissioner of Operations will maximize the efficiency of the divisions responsible for department planning, budget administration, and the administration of department policies, programs, and procedures.

GRANT MANAGER

The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for a Grant Manager for the Division of Youth Opportunities within the Department of Health and Human Services. This position will conduct detailed administration of local, state, and federal grants to support community initiatives relating to Division of Youth Opportunities priorities. This position will identify, apply, and manage new grants proposals for youth development, job readiness and other youth improvements related initiatives. The position will collaborate with community, neighborhood, and social service agency partners to serve as grant manager for new and existing initiatives and offer technical assistance as assigned.

INVESTIGATION SPECIALIST

The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for an Investigation Specialist for the Investigation Division within the Executive Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Under the direction of the Lead Investigator, the position will perform complex investigative enforcement work concerning allegations of employee misconduct by both City employees, residents and other individuals who interact with City employees. The employee will work to identify investigative issues; recognize administrative violations; and initiate cases and collect and evaluate evidence to formulate defensible investigative conclusions.

HR BUSINESS AND SYSTEMS ANALYST

Under the direction of the Chief Human Resource Officer, the position will be responsible for providing expert subject matter knowledge and assist with the implementation and full utilization of the City’s ERP for Workday (WD). The HR Business and Systems Analyst will provide expert knowledge related to human resource management to support solutions for the City’s cloud-based technical infrastructure. In conjunction with interdepartmental leadership and in consultation with the City’s Department of Innovation & Technology, this position will assist in the deployment and design of business process requirements to ensure the smooth operation and transition to WD. The position will conduct proactive review, assessment, and successful deployment of new functionality within WD.

TOBACCO COMPLIANCE INTERN

DIVISION OF PUBLIC HEALTH

The City of Worcester is seeking three (3) Tobacco Compliance Interns to work for the Division of Public Heath within the Tobacco Control Program. Under the direct supervision of the Tobacco Prevention Health Specialist, the position will focus on reducing youth access to tobacco products by conducting compliance inspections. The Interns will visit establishments with the Tobacco Prevention Health Specialist and attempt to purchase tobacco products for enforcement and compliance with state and local regulations.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must be between the age of 16 and 20 years of age
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required
  • Excellent communication skills


SALARY: $15.00 hourly, part-time, non-benefitted.

RECOVERY COACH

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES

The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for a Recovery Coach in the Department of Health and Human Services. Under the direction of the Commissioner of Health and Human Services, the Recovery Coach will connect with individuals from the community who are currently struggling with Substance Use Disorder (SUD). The Recovery Coach will provide this population services that include efforts to encourage attendance and participation in recovery groups, initial assessment and referral, assistance with access to treatment, rapid identification of treatment and care needs, peer counseling and support, relapse prevention/intervention, patient tracking, ongoing patient support, and facilitation of communication across systems of care. This is a part-time position, budgeted at 19 hours per week.

  • Recovery Coach certification or obtain certification within six months of hire date
  • Lived experience with recovery
