Been a strange yet productive planting/growing season weather wise. Plans never seemed etched in stone. But on Saturday, November 2 they were quite firm! Thank you Nim, Connie, Gabriel, Gwen, Gary, Marc, Nancy, Jim, Amy, Kathy, Keith, Troy, Bryan, Zachary and Leonard for your hard work in felling 6 trees that morning. Amazing effort. Goal was actually 3 trees! Worker Bee’s? How about Killer Bee’s!!
Thank you Zachary for also assisting with the dropping of two medium size trees in North End. Thank you also Troy for providing additional help with the dropping of two remaining large trees on Friday 11/15. And wouldn’t you know it, two additional trees in north end, one a standing dead and the other broken due to decay/wind, were removed in early November. Total trees taken down – 12!! We are good to go for a while now.
This coming spring, additional prep work will be done on the areas to be developed and seeded by early June.

For now a well earned rest for many till May 2020 when I hope to pull together a group of volunteers to plant a variety of trees and perhaps a few shrubs along the transitional zone between Savanna and the part shade area. The last tree planting that took place was in May 2018. We had nearly 30 people come out for that. Stay tune for further updates come Spring 2020.
