August 2024

From the Director's Desk

Are we seriously in August?!?

Or are you just Julying to me?

Believe it or not, yes, August is HERE! School, fall programs and events are STEAMING in around the corner, but before we jump to pumpkin spice lattes and hayrides, we also want to finish our summer strong with a HOT new highlight!

We want to recognize the very first "Youth Seasonal Maintainer" working with us this summer, the incredible Henry Strzelecki! Henry WARMED up to the new position immediately, jumping right in to lend a hand wherever he could. He never SWEATED the early report times, or BLISTERING temps, and simply worked alongside our crew to get the job done to keep our parks ready for you to enjoy. A huge thank you to Henry for his hard work and dedication and to Nonnewaug High School for partnering with WP&R!

We understand if your enthusiasm for August has EVAPORATED, but make sure you at least BREEZE through the pages beow!

Parks and Rec Programs

Summer is a great time to be active and outdoors! Our parks are very busy with Pavilion rentals, youth sports, summer camps and people of all ages out taking in the sunshine! As a reminder, as much as we welcome and enjoy seeing our canine friends in the parks, they must be leashed (dog on one end, human on the other) at all times.
