Highlighting Julia Morgan
Julia Morgan was the first female architect licensed in California, and the first woman to receive the American Institute of Architect's highest award - the AIA Gold Medal. Morgan is responsible for designing more than 700 buildings in California, most notably Hearst Castle. She also worked with William Randolph Hearst to design the Marion Davies Guest House.
FEATURED PROJECT
MARION DAVIES GUEST HOUSE
The five-building, 110-room ocean estate in Santa Monica includes the Guest House built for William Randolph Hearst's mistress.

Julia Morgan designed the 750-foot 'cottage', which was built in 1929 at the cost of $7 million. The Majority of the estate has since been torn down, leaving only the Guest House, marble pool, and tennis courts.
