On January 10th, the GWC presented artist Julyan Davis as speaker at the membership meeting. Attendees were treated to lively story-telling and a discussion of Davis’s American Ghosts painting series. Mr. Davis, a British-born and professionally trained artist, shared his lively imagination and showcased his talents in painting and printmaking. His love and appreciation for the South and its vanishing landscapes was evidenced in his work.
On March 6th, more than 30 GWC members toured the International African American Museum, an enriching experience exploring the history and culture within the museum’s walls.
Thought-provoking exhibits, celebrating the resilience, achievements and contributions of African Americans throughout history captivated our attention. From powerful artifacts to interactive displays, we were immersed in stories that left a lasting impact.
Following the museum tour, we gathered next door for a delightful lunch at the Dockside
condominiums. The cozy social room and views of the Cooper River provided
the perfect setting for camaraderie and conversation. As we enjoyed our meal, we
reflected on the significance of the museum visit and the importance of preserving and
sharing these narratives. Thank you to all who participated, and a special shout-out to our committee for making this event possible.
