Multiple stakes-winner Me and Mr. C will take on a solid group of older horses Saturday when the Florida-bred gelding goes to the post in the $75,000 Mr. Steele at Gulfstream Park. Set for a mile-and-a-sixteenth on the turf, the Mr. Steele has attracted a field of nine 3-year-olds and older with Me and Mr. C running for an additional $20,000 Top 3 Florida-bred bonus presented by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.

The Ocala/Marion County Visitors and Convention Bureau kicked off National Travel and Tourism Week from May 19 to 25 announcing that from April 2023 to March 2024, more than 1.4 million visitors with a $1 billion in economic impact, visited the county.

The Big Beast Filly Brings $200,000 at Day 2 of Fasig-Tipton Midlantic

A Florida-bred filly by The Big Beast sold to Randy Patterson $200,000 during the second day of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale of 2-Year-Olds In Training Tuesday. Selling as Hip 322, the chestnut filly is out of the stakes-winning mare Spring Included, by Include, a half-sister to stakes-winner Pulsion.

FTC Scholarship Deadline is June 15

Florida Thoroughbred Charities, Inc. is the charitable arm of the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association and awards students scholarships that can be applied to any accredited university, college, or technical institution for two to four-year programs. Typically, the scholarships cover the current Fall semester and the following Spring semester.

Milestone Watch


Jockey Scott Spieth is approaching a personal milestone of 5,000 Thoroughbred career wins in North America (US and Canada). Through racing Wednesday, May 22, Spieth was at 4,999 wins. He has three scheduled mounts at Presque Isle Downs on Monday.
