Florida-bred Sabatini Takes Graded Stakes Credentials to the Turf in Ontario Colleen

A winner of the Grade 3 Selene on synthetic in her last start, Florida-bred Sabatini will try turf for the first time in Saturday’s Grade 3 Ontario Colleen at Woodbine. A large field of 13 3-year-old fillies, including the top three finishers from the Selene, will race a mile for a purse of CA$135,000.

Florida-bred Lady Lala to Make Stakes Debut in Monmouth Oaks

Fresh off a maiden special weight score in her second start, Florida-bred Lady Lala is set to take on stakes company for the first time Saturday in the Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks at Monmouth Park. The $250,000 Monmouth Oaks has attracted eight 3-year-old fillies and is scheduled for a mile-and-one-sixteenth.

Strangles Confirmed in Marion County

According to the Equine Disease Communication Center and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, a private facility in Marion County, Florida has been placed under quarantine by the FDACS as of July 24 due to a horse testing positive for strangles.

$400 Early Breeders' Cup Foal Nomination Deadline Closes Aug. 1

LEXINGTON, KY―Breeders’ Cup Limited issued a reminder today that Thursday, Aug. 1 at 11:59 p.m. EDT is the deadline to nominate foals born in 2024 to the Breeders’ Cup program at the one-time nomination fee of $400. Any foal being entered in a fall or winter breeding stock sale must be nominated by this deadline for inclusion of the Breeders’ Cup Nominated engagement on the catalog page.
