Tampa Bay Downs Action Set to Heat Up During Busy Holiday Season

OLDSMAR, FL-Tampa Bay Downs plans to spread holiday cheer throughout next week, with four days of Thoroughbred racing culminating with the first Sunday card of the meet on Dec. 24. Strangles Confirmed in Lee County

According to the Equine Disease Communication Center and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, a private facility in Lee County in Florida has been placed under quarantine by the FDACS as of Dec. 15 due a horse testing positive for strangles. Only the animals under quarantine have additional travel restrictions.

Eastern Equine Encephalitis Confirmed in Lake County

According to the Equine Disease Communication Center and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, a new case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis was confirmed at a private facility in Lake County, Fla., on Dec. 14. However, no quarantine has been issued. Only the animals under quarantine have additional travel restrictions.
