OLDSMAR, FL-Tampa Bay Downs plans to spread holiday cheer throughout next week, with four days of Thoroughbred racing culminating with the first Sunday card of the meet on Dec. 24. After a rare rain-soaked afternoon at the Oldsmar oval, action resumes Wednesday with nine races beginning at 12:50 p.m.

Florida-bred Boppy O, who has drawn post three for the $125,000 Tropical Park Derby scheduled for a mile-and-a-sixteenth on the turf at Gulfstream Park next Saturday, worked four furlongs in :49.65 Saturday morning at Palm Meadows for trainer Mark Casse.

According to the Equine Disease Communication Center and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, a private facility in Lee County in Florida has been placed under quarantine by the FDACS as of Dec. 15 due a horse testing positive for strangles. Only the animals under quarantine have additional travel restrictions.
