FTHA Accepting Workers Comp Applications

COURTESY FTHA

The Florida Thoroughbred Horsemen Association is accepting applications from trainers for their new workers compensation program. This historic plan allows trainers to pay their workers compensation premium by the start.

To be eligible, trainers must submit their last three years of loss runs for review. If approved, the basic start fee could be $100.00. If a trainer starts horses at Gulfstream Park year-round, the FTHA will subsidize each start with a $50.00 stipend. This plan covers trainers in all states except New York, California, Ohio, North Dakota, Washington and Wyoming. A start not at Gulfstream will not be subsidized.
