We hope you are enjoying the fall, as the holiday season and winter are fast approaching. The Parks and Recreation Office is still accepting registration forms and checks for Thunder Ridge Ski and Snowboard Lessons. See below for details. Information is also available below for several holiday activities which we are planning; registration opens today for Holiday Happenings & Movie Night. The Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink is now accepting registration for the Winter Session of Skating School online. Lessons begin in January. Except for Town holidays, the Parks and Recreation Office at Town Hall is open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We encourage you to make an appointment between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Most business can be done online. Office staff are available by email; feel free to contact us. Town Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 23-24 for Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful holiday!

Ski and Snowboard Lessons


Thunder Ridge Ski Area is offering ski and snowboard lessons at discounted rates, when registration is made through Greenwich Parks and Recreation. Registration form and Snowsports School Lesson Program Liability Release must be completed and submitted along with appropriate check payable to "Thunder Ridge" to the Recreation Office at Town Hall. Registration closes November 30 or when sections are full. Lessons are for those ages 8 and up.

Currently, these sections are full:

Tuesday, 5:30 p.m. Ski

Thursday, 5:30 p.m. Snowboard

Saturday, 3:30 p.m. Snowboard

Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink

Register for Winter Skating School

Winter Skating School registration opens online for Greenwich residents November 15. Do not delay, as sections will fill. Registration closes December 29 or when sections are full. Residents may also register online for Hamill Hockey. Hamill Hockey is an exciting new program for skaters ages 5-18, offering 5 different level classes for beginners through elite hockey players. This program is offering skill-based and developmental classes for those interested in pursuing the sport, or those who are looking for additional hockey practice to accelerate the progress of their skills. Hockey has already begun; fees are not pro-rated.


The Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink is open for public sessions. For more details on public sessions, stick and puck sessions, private lessons, and more, download the 2023-2024 Hamill Rink Brochure.

Annual Tree Lighting,

Photo Contest


We have several holiday programs on the calendar. Friday, December 1 is our Annual Tree Lighting at Town Hall, beginning at 4 p.m. Santa Claus and friends will be visiting; entertainment will be provided by Allegra Dance and Greenwich A cappella.


Dec. 1 is also the beginning of our Holiday Photo Contest which runs through Dec. 15. Submit a photo showing your favorite part of the holidays in Greenwich and you'll be entered for a chance to win a holiday prize package.

Holiday Happenings & Movie Night,

Food Drive


Tickets go on sale November 15 for Holiday Happenings & Movie Night which will be held Saturday, December 9 at Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center. We will have holiday music and pajama party, inflatable snow globe and photo opportunities, stuff your own holiday bear and more! Tickets are $10 each.


From November 26 - December 16, Greenwich Recreation is once again hosting a Holiday Food Drive to benefit Neighbor to Neighbor. Collection bins will be set up at Parks and Recreation at Town Hall, BWGCC, and the Dorothy Hamill Rink. Donations of fresh fruit and vegetables can also be made online.

Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center

Continuing for a few more weeks, BWGCC is hosting Fall Drop-in Pickleball. Pickleball players should take note of the definitions of skill levels prior to dropping in for play. Adults can attend Zumba with Ruthie on Saturdays, email Ruthie. Join a Boot Camp Class with Get-Fit Glenville LLC. 120 BPM is offering CPR and AED certification classes; email 120bpmllc@gmail.com. Membership is available for ages 18 and older at the WGCC Weight Club.



Beginning in January, a new program Art, Movement & mindfulness will be offered for ages 4-7. Also, Look Who's Talking is providing language development classes for babies up to 24 months. Jumpin' Jams is providing music classes for little ones. Just Wee Two has classes for ages 8 months through 3.5 years. Registration is open for season 15 of The Dance Pointe classes. Jack Rabbits Gymnastics will hold classes Friday mornings. Youth sports classes at BWGCC include Greenwich Stars Basketball and Tri State Thunder Basketball; for information email Coach Juricek.

Tennis and Pickleball Reservations

The reservation system for tennis and pickleball courts is open online and will continue through November 30. Drop-in Pickleball play is offered at BWGCC. For those who play at Eastern Greenwich Civic Center courts, we have been having intermittent outages of electricity at the site. As a result, the lights for the courts may not work at the appropriate time, or may not work at all. Should this occur, please notify us at recreation@greenwichct.org so we can have the timer for the lights reset. Thank you!

Skatepark Activities



As of November 1, hours of operation are weekends and Greenwich Public School holidays 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. The park is closed in December, January, February and early March. Withdrawal Policy for Recreation Activities
other than Day Camps

Credit requests for recreation activity registration will be considered if received in writing prior to the start of the activity. There is a $15 administrative fee per section for credits. The general policy of the Recreation Division is that we do not process refunds unless a program has been cancelled. Please read all registration information carefully and contact us prior to registering if you have any questions. Should someone withdraw from an activity after it has begun, the credit will be pro-rated based on the time remaining in the activity when the withdrawal is requested.
