The Field Institute calendar is full of fun, awe-inspiring classes and programs from now until the end of January, with more being added each day. From mushroom identification to hiking to nature photography, you are sure to find a class that speaks to you. Because most field classes are still small for Covid safety, they can fill up quickly. For 50 years the Christmas Bird Count has monitored the winter populations of over 200 species of birds at Point Reyes. The day after the 2021 count, join this outing to see and learn about the birds of the area.

A Forest Bathing walk is a guided slow meander, intended to allow for a deep and meaningful connection with the natural world. Join this walk to slow down and experience the forest in new ways.

Start the new year with a visit to some of the Seashore's most scenic, yet least visited places! A rare daytime negative low tide will allow access to sea caves, beaches, tidepools, and sculpted cliffs.

Job & Volunteer Opportunities
Biological Science Technician

PRNSA is hiring a Technician who will assist in Natural Resources Management within the National Park Service at Point Reyes. Specifically, the Technician will gain additional on-the-job training in monitoring, vegetation identification and ecology, invasive plant removal, techniques such as the use of GIS software, and data management. Please submit applications by 12/09/2021.

Visitor Services Volunteer

Do you find that while recreating in the park you end up talking to visitors about it and answering their questions? Consider joining the Visitor Services team in the Bear Valley Visitor Center to help facilitate positive experiences and connections to the park among visitors. This is part of the park's mission and the first steps in promoting support for and a love of Point Reyes National Seashore. Join the Bear Valley Visitor Center team and make a difference to the park and its visitors!

Community Volunteer Ambassador Internship

Are you or someone you know 18 - 30 years old (35 years old if a veteran), and interested in a career with the National Park Service? Point Reyes National Seashore is recruiting for a Community Volunteer Ambassador Intern who will have service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve natural resources. In particular, the intern will work alongside park staff to develop, grow, and diversify the Visitor Services and Trail Patrol volunteer programs. This is a 1-year, paid internship. The application due date is 12/17/2021, or until filled.

Thanks to Board Member Melissa Nelken and her husband, Ronald Lee, all gifts up to $20,000 to support Youth In Parks programs will be matched through December 31, 2021.
