NATIONAL RECOGNITION AWARD

2024 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA)

The Town of Windsor “Windsor/Windsor River Road Intersection Improvement and Multi-Use Path Connector Project” has earned a National Recognition Award in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) 2024 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) competition. The Town was invited to attend the awards ceremony in Washington D.C. Shannon Cotulla P.E., the Town’s Public Works Director, attended the event on behalf of the Town.

Not only did the project prepare the intersection for SMART’s rail service to Windsor, it continues to receive recognition as one of the few roundabouts in the nation with a rail crossing through it. In advance of the rail service coming to Windsor, the project has already improved the flow of both pedestrian and vehicle traffic during peak periods of high school and event traffic.

TOWN COUNCIL ELECTIONS

November Election: District 3 Highlight

In our last Insider, we highlighted our electoral District 2. Today, we are highlighting District 3. If you live in District 3, this upcoming election, you will be able to elect an At-large Mayor and a District 3 Councilmember. If you are more interested in running for Council, the Nomination period begins this Monday, July 15, and interested residents can request candidate information and forms to run for Council from the Town Clerk’s Office.

If you aren’t sure if you reside in District 3, the general area begins at the Jensen Lane and Old Redwood Highway junction: the south side of Jensen Lane and north side of Old Redwood Highway until Hembree Lane, then the east side of Hembree Lane down to Highway 101, continues just below Shiloh Road; past the business park it remains north of Shiloh road, then curves back south just before it meets with Old Redwood Highway. The boundary continues north of East Shiloh Road until just past Mathilde Drive and Lockwood Drive (The Town’s boundary), following back up to Jensen Lane on the Town’s boundary. If that was a lot of information or for a more accurate rendering, enter your address into our District Look up tool to find out!

On the November ballot, this election not only has the District 3 Councilmember seat open, but it will also have the At-large Mayor and District 2 Councilmember seats. Check out our At-large Mayor highlight in the next edition of the Windsor Insider.

The Town Clerk’s Office is actively updating its election website with relevant information for the upcoming election and nomination period. Please review our election webpages here: https://www.townofwindsor.com/358/Election-Information.
