WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT RECOGNITION

The Town of Windsor’s Wastewater Treatment Plant was recently featured in Treatment Plant Operator (TPO) Magazine, a national magazine dedicated to advances in municipal wastewater treatment and operations.
The article focused on the wastewater treatment plant’s Net Zero Goals:
- Recycling 100% of its treated wastewater
- Converting 100% of its solids to a sustainable biochar product
- Operating with 100% renewable energy

WINDSOR DAY PARADE, FESTIVAL & CONCERT

Planning to attend the Windsor Day Parade Festival & Concert?
Here are a few important tips and reminders:
-
FREE SHUTTLE to the Town Green from Windsor Middle School only. The shuttle will operate beginning from 9AM to 3:30PM. Due to the parade route and staging areas, there is no shuttle from Windsor High School.

FREE BIKE VALET at the Town Green near the corner of Market St. & McClelland Dr.

Bring your chair and blankets to enjoy the music after the parade. Please note the setup rules are listed on the Town website.

No setup is allowed prior to 5 AM. Low chairs only in the two lawn wedges nearest to the stage. Canopies are allowed behind the timeline walk.

WINDSOR NEXT COMMUNITY WORKSHOP

The Town of Windsor needs your help to improve walking, biking, transit, and driving in town. Please join us on October 5, at 6PM for an in-person meeting to discuss how we can improve access, safety, and mobility for everyone in Windsor.
The workshop will be held at Town Hall in the Council Chambers located 9291 Old Redwood Highway, Building 400.
The work from this project will build on previous studies, plans, and reports, including:
- Connecting Central Windsor
- Class I Trails Study
- Vision Zero Plan
- Old Redwood Highway Corridor Enhancement Plan
- Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan
- Safe Routes to School

LEARN LIFE-SAVING SKILLS

Windsor COPE, Sonoma County Fire District, and the Town of Windsor are sponsoring a free training for Windsor residents on Saturday, October 7, from 10AM to 12PM at Huerta Gym, 9291 Old Redwood Hwy, Suite 200.
All interested residents, please pre-register at https://bit.ly/WindsorCPRTraining to save a spot. Certification will not be issued with this training, and you will need to sign a Town of Windsor waiver on the day of, to participate. LANDSCAPING WITH NATIVE PLANTS

Please join the Town of Windsor and Habitat Corridor Project on October 7, at the Windsor Regional Library at 10AM for a FREE CA native plants workshop, open to all Windsor residents.
Join landscape architect April Owens, as she shares her knowledge of the benefits of planting California natives. All participants will leave the workshop with an in-depth guide and a new understanding of how to bring a native landscape to your own home yards.

SPECIAL FALL FAMILY MOVIE ON THE TOWN GREEN

Join us for the first FALL Family Movie on the Green on Friday, October 13, with a double feature of Hocus Pocus 1 and Hocus Pocus 2!
The fun kicks off at 5PM with free kids' activities, treats, and more. This is a family-friendly event and costumes are encouraged!
The first movie will begin approximately 15 minutes after sunset, around 6:45PM.

This is especially true for older adults who are at “greater risks when it comes to the multitude of extreme weather events and emergencies we now face, especially if they are living alone, low-income, have a disability, or live in rural areas”.

The Town Council meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6PM.
Planning Commission Meetings
The Planning Commission meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30PM.
Parks and Recreation Commission
The Parks and Recreation Commission meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 6PM.
Public Art Advisory Commission
The Public Art Advisory Commission meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 4:30PM.
Senior Citizen Advisory Commission
The Senior Citizen Advisory Commission meets quarterly, on the third Tuesday at 2PM. (January, April, July, October)

Sonoma Clean Power is hosting a free Electric Vehicle Showcase at the Advanced Energy Center, 741 Fourth Street, Santa Rosa, from 11AM - 4PM this Saturday, September 30. The event features guidance in English and Spanish on the advantages, features, charging options, and available rebates for popular EV models.

Parent Project Classes!
The Parent Project classes are aimed for caretakers of strong-willed youth. Parent Project is a ten-week program (10/18/23 – 12/20/23) that provides parents and family members with the skills and tools to understand why boundaries are important (and loving), and how to create and maintain behavioral changes within the home to enhance safe boundaries for and with their children. Classes are being held one evening per week in Windsor.
Classes will begin on October 18 at Windsor High in both English and Spanish. Registration cost is $45 per person with scholarships available. For more information visit www.parentproject.com or call (707) 714-1304.

National Preparedness Month Wraps Up with a Commitment to Safety
As National Preparedness Month comes to a close, we want to express our gratitude to all of the Windsor community members who have actively participated in making our community safer and more resilient. This September, we've focused on enhancing our collective preparedness for emergencies and disasters.
Throughout the month, we've held workshops, distributed vital information at community events, and conducted emergency drills, all designed to empower you with the knowledge and tools necessary to safeguard your families and property. Your enthusiasm and engagement have been truly remarkable.
While National Preparedness Month may be ending, our commitment to Windsor’s safety remains unwavering. Remember, preparedness is not just a month-long effort but a continuous journey. Stay informed, know your zone, update your emergency plans, and assemble your emergency kits. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient Town of Windsor.

September 30 – We’ll see you at the Windsor Day Parade and be sure to stop by our booth on the Town Green after the Parade! We’ll have emergency preparedness information and lots of cool SWAG to take home.

October 7 - Join us, when we partner with Windsor COPE bringing life-saving training to our Windsor community members at Huerta Gym.
