Present in Motion is a mantra to keep in mind as you navigate change. When things feel uncertain or overwhelming, just remind yourself to stay grounded, be open, and keep moving slowly.

By cultivating awareness and connection within our own bodies, we can begin to create meaningful change in the world around us. It's a powerful statement that emphasizes the personal nature of the practice while also recognizing its potential for broader social impact.

Somatic Practice at its core is about creating new ways of moving through life. This path is about recognizing the interconnectedness of all life and honoring the diverse ways that people move through the world. It's about embracing change, both within ourselves and in our relationship to the world around us.

Dear Friends,

At Willow Glen Yoga we are proud to be expanding our focus to include equal emphasis on EQ Embodied Leadership and Somatic Movement to provide our community with a comprehensive and unique approach to wellness.

Our mission remains the same: to help people connect with themselves and each other, and to promote holistic health. My husband, Kent, has been a pillar of this community for decades, and his influence will continue to be felt in everything we do.

We all need practices to find pathways to Presence.

As we embark on this new journey, we're excited to share with you all the amazing things we have in store.

Give the Gift of Your Presence This Holiday Season...You're basically saying, "Hey, I'm here, in this moment, fully present, and I'm letting my experience flow through me." It's a philosophy of radical presence, if you will. And the cool thing is, when you approach life that way, there's a freedom to it, a kind of liberation from the pressures of having to be a certain way or to achieve certain things. You're just living, in the moment, in your body.

The qualities of insight, timing, and clarity are fostered by three key abilities: inclusiveness, centered listening, and speaking up.

Inclusiveness allows for a sense of shared understanding and connection, while centered listening helps one to remain grounded and objective, in other words not taking it personally. Speaking up with clarity and precision enables leaders to communicate their perspectives effectively, while also advocating for what they believe in.

When leaders embrace these qualities, they create a more expansive and harmonious environment that fosters growth and collaboration for everyone involved.

In these classes you will learn how to lead yourself out of fear, scarcity, a deep-seated desire for security, and your need to fix things and into your full potential.

By fully engaging with our emotions and experiences without tensing or resisting, we can increase our ability to handle negative thoughts and emotions in a more productive and resilient manner.

Just by emphasizing the importance of being fully present and open to our experiences, even when they are challenging or difficult, we begin building resilience and emotional intelligence. We can grow stronger and more capable by embracing and working with our emotions and thoughts, rather than trying to suppress or avoid them.

Thomas Hanna, a pioneer in the field of somatic education, believed that through somatic practices, individuals could develop greater awareness and control over their bodies, which in turn would lead to improved movement, reduced pain, and an overall sense of wellbeing.

He saw insight, timing, and clarity as critical components of this process, enabling individuals to more fully understand and engage with their bodies in a holistic and integrated way.

In his teachings, Hanna encouraged individuals to explore and expand their sensory awareness, to tune in to the subtleties of their movement patterns, and to cultivate a more mindful and intentional approach to their physical being.

Tuning into the subtleties of movement patterns and fascia is often overlooked in traditional movement therapies, but we believe that it plays a crucial role in movement and pain relief.

By paying close attention to the subtle sensations and movements within the body, individuals can begin to notice and address areas of tension or restriction in the fascia. This may involve gentle pulsing, micro movements, or simply bringing curious awareness to these areas which can allow them to relax.
