Will the "Youthquake" Drive Election Results in 2020?
Author Charlotte Alter dubs the rising influence of young people a "youthquake" in the latest issue of Time. Beyond rallies and social media movements, voter turnout has also increased, growing by 79% between the past two mid-term elections for ages 18-29. If this trend continues millennials and Generation Z could have make a big difference this year; the Pew Research Center projects that these groups will represent 37% of the 2020 electorate.

Engaging Increasingly Isolated Older Adults
Studies are showing that older adults have a greater risk of loneliness and that lonely people are more likely to die from heart disease and are more vulnerable to high blood pressure, Alzheimer's disease, and suicide. To address this problem, cities can begin to utilize an aging lens to intentionally engage older adults.  Learn more.

4th Annual National Day of Racial Healing
January 21st marked the 4th annual National Day of Racial Healing. People gathered for more than 100 different events in 40 cities to  allow civic, community, government and private organizations to highlight the need for healing the wounds created by bias related to race, ethnicity and religion. 2020 RWJF-NCL Health Equity Award Application
Now accepting applications for the 2020 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-National Civic League Award for Health Equity. The award recognizes and honors individuals who have successfully implemented a systems change approach to improve health outcomes for those most impacted by health disparities.

Now Accepting 2020 AAC Hall of Fame Applications

Webinar: Taking Climate Actions at the Local Level
Join us on February 19th to hear from two cities that are taking on the issue of sustainability with resident-driven initiatives. The Office of Sustainability in Chula Vista, CA will discuss its Climate Action Challenge, and the Sustainability Division in Lakewood, CO will discuss its Sustainable Neighborhoods Program.
