TSOC BIKE REPAIR STATION PROJECT

Travel Southern Oregon Coast (TSOC) is excited to announce that they have kicked off a pilot program for their upcoming Bike Repair Station Project.

The Coos County Forestry Department installed the first bike repair station the first week of June at the Whiskey Run Mountain Biking Trails, just in time for the First Annual Whiskey Run Bike Festival.

The station received great praise before, during, and after the Festival. The added amenity continues to be an added addition to the trails.

TSOC is working with communities to secure more bike repair stations along the Southern Oregon Coast Region.
PACIFIC NORTHWEST WILDFLOWERS

Northwest Wildflowers has created an interactive map of wildflowers in Oregon and Washington states. You can choose a month to view wildflowers and the interactive map will populate the locations where you can view them. Just zoom into the south coast area to see which spots are the best for viewing at that time.
IRS RAISES MILEAGE RATE

The Internal Revenue Service today announced an increase in the optional standard mileage rate for the final 6 months of 2022. Taxpayers may use the optional standard mileage rates to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business and certain other purposes.

For the final 6 months of 2022, the standard mileage rate for business travel will be 62.5 cents per mile, up 4 cents from the rate effective at the start of the year. The new rate for deductible medical or moving expenses (available for active-duty members of the military) will be 22 cents for the remainder of 2022, up 4 cents from the rate effective at the start of 2022. These new rates become effective July 1, 2022.
OREGON STATE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE

On July 1, 2022, the hourly minimum wage in Oregon will increase as follows:

  • Non-Urban Counties (Coos, Curry, Douglas): $12.50
  • State Base (All Other “Standard”) Counties: $13.50
OREGON COAST RAILRIDERS

Oregon Coast Railriders are opening a new recreational/tourist activity in Coquille at Sturdevant Park.

They plan to begin operations this Saturday and run 5 days per week (Wednesday through Sunday) with three tours per day until the weather turns. The tours will be about 10 miles round trip, up to Coaledo and back. The price will be approximately $30 per rider with a potential kids discount (pricing is still being worked out). This is a great new feature to share with our south coast visitors!
