If breastfeeding is "natural" then why is it so challenging for so many moms?
As a Nurse, a Nurse-Midwife and Lactation Consultant, I have been working with new moms for the past 22 years. As most of you know, breastfeeding is on the top of my list when it comes to my mission.
"To educate, empower, and inspire new parents to make the healthiest choices for their babies"
With new research coming out every day about the "Benefits of Breastfeeding" (including the one last week that showed a significant reduction in SIDS to babies that are breastfed)...why is it that nationally only 13% of new moms are exclusively breastfeeding until 6 months?! Not even the minimum recommendation from the American Academy of Pediatrics and not even close to the World Health Organization Recommendations!
There are many answers to this question, and most of them have nothing to do with the mom herself!!
