Bad news!
Iowa Hemp Update: Hemp bill killed by Speaker Upmeyer and Ag. Committee Chair Lee Hein
Hello

We are extremely disappointed to inform you that the Iowa hemp bill was not given a vote in the House by Speaker Linda Upmeyer and Ag. Committee chair Lee Hein.

This is sad news for Iowa farmers who could benefit from a profitable alternative crop like hemp now that China is canceling orders for U.S. soybeans. It is especially frustrating considering the bill was passed out the Senate unanimously. Why do Hein and Upmeyer want to deny Iowa farmers the right to participate in the hemp market along with 19 other states (and growing)?

This is an example of politics at its worst. We urge you to share this news and let Speaker Upmeyer and Rep. Hein know how you feel about their actions.

Hemp farming is taking off nationwide with more than 25,000 acres grown last year and over $800 million in hemp product sales. Iowa could be participating in this important market but thanks to Lee Hein and Linda Upmeyer, Iowa farmers are being left out. Emall them and let them know this was a terrible decision on their part.
