In his lecture, David Ragazzoni explores the intricate challenges facing political parties in contemporary democracies. He delves into the paradox of parties’ structural strength juxtaposed with dwindling public trust, offering insights into their potential rejuvenation. Drawing from historical debates and contemporary political landscapes, Dr. Ragazzoni advocates for a reimagining of party democracy, emphasizing participatory reforms and nuanced understandings of political compromise.


David Ragazzoni is a Core Lecturer in Contemporary Civilization in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University. He received his PhD in Political Science from Columbia in October 2022, with a specialization in political theory and a special minor in law.
