Quote of the Month
"You are indeed capable of healing yourself. Your state of health is a reflection of how you perceive yourself and your world. This naturally places the responsibility for your well being where it belongs- in your own hands. Once you have achieved vibrant health, you will not just feel well. You will have become "whole", perhaps for the very first time in your life."

Why Diets Don't Work....
Americans are obsessed with weight. You can't turn on the TV, drive down the road or go to a party without being inundated by information and sound bites about this hot topic. Diets are a billion-dollar industry; companies spend millions and millions luring you to try the latest diet (low carb, high protein, low fat, no fat..... you name it!) with promises that this will (finally!) be the solution- your short cut to a thinner, happier you. Advertising efforts also deeply affect our children, who develop distorted body images and are often on diets as early as 9 or 10 years of age.
Our culture touts diet pills, celebrity workouts, convenience foods and trendy diets to help us achieve our desired weight, but these quick fix solutions have backfired. America's populace has reached its highest weight in history. More than half of Americans are overweight; one-third are obese. Diets steer us away from our common sense and dip deeply into our pocketbooks while eliciting few, if any, lasting results. Why? Read more --->

Food Focus: Sprouts!
In the spring, seeds flaunt their vitality and energy by sprouting. Sprouts of al varieties contain the building blocks of life in the form of vitamins, enzymes, amino acids and simple sugars. in their early growth state, sprouts are very easy to digest, allowing our bodies to access many wonderful nutrients. Recent research by the American Cancer Society has backs what holistic nutrition has know for years: sprouts contain anti-cancer properties, high levels of active antioxidants, concentrated amounts of phytochemicals and significant amounts of vitamins C, A and D.
In their raw form, sprouts have a cooling effect on the body, and are therefore, best consumed in warm weather or by robust warm body types. Those you tend to feel cool can add them to warm dishes to reduce their cooling effect. There is a wide variety of edible and delicious sprouts, each with a different texture and flavor: mung bean, lentil, radish, clover, sunfloer, broccoli, garbanzo, adzuki, and pea.
Here are some great ways to serve up sprouts:
*Add to salads
*Combine with other veggies in lettuce wraps, sushi rolls and more
*Use as a garish for a variety of dishes
*Add to brown rice or whole-grain dishes
*Use in place of lettuce
Spring has arrived! Eat sprouts and feel alive!!

Are You Curious How Health & Nutrition Coaching Can Help You Meet Your Health Goals?
The truth is, most people know what they need to be doing to improve their health. The questions is, why aren't they doing it? This is where the support of a health coach can really help you reach and maintain your goals.
I never thought a "coach" was something I needed. But as my dreams and goals became bigger, I realized I needed guidance and support to figure out how to get to where I wanted to be. I also needed someone to be accountable to- otherwise, I knew I might not actually meet the vision I had for myself.
As a health and nutrition coach, it is my joy and honor to serve the greatness in others. If you're curious about how health and nutrition coaching can support you, please contact me for a free 30-minute strategy session. We'll focus in on your greatest health concerns and goals, and what it's costing you to not address them now. We will also discover if we're a good match for working together to empower you toward the greatest version of yourself.
If you know of someone who is looking for a guest speaker or educator, please think of me. It would be my great pleasure to share my passion and expertise in the field of health, nutrition and raw foods. Do you know of someone who might enjoy reading this newsletter? Please feel free to forward it to them.
Thank you! |
