Our monthly summary of how you can make the most of your Whole Grains Council membership.

WGC August 2017 Member Newsletter
Dear Oldways Whole Grains Council members,

September 1 marks the start of Whole Grains Month, so we're dedicating all of this WGC Member Newsletter to last-minute ideas for making the most of this marketing opportunity.

Here are 4 quick, easy, low-cost / no-cost ways to get involved:

1. Donate Product to Our Whole Grains Month Giveaway

This year's Good Grains for a Good Cause campaign is all about getting great, whole grain products to those in need. Throughout September, consumers all over the country will be nominating their favorite food-related charities (food banks, food pantries, etc.) for a chance to win dozens of cases of whole grain product donated by our WGC members.

To support a good cause -- and take advantage of free visibility and social media attention for your company as we advertise this month-long event throughout September -- email Caroline Sluyter ( caroline@oldwayspt.org) and sign up! All donations must be products registered and approved to use the Whole Grain Stamp, minimum donation one case (no maximum!). There is no need to ship it anywhere yet -- we'll provide the address of the winning charity at the end of Whole Grains Month and you can send your case(s) directly to the winner then.

Many thanks to the following companies who have already signed up to contribute over 50 cases of product. We're listing all donors on our website, so sign up today!

  • Back to Nature
  • Freekkehlicious
  • Lotus Foods
  • Barbara's Bakery
  • Grainful
  • Lundberg Family Farms
  • Bob's Red Mill
  • Hodgson Mill
  • Mary's Gone Crackers
  • Catallia Mexican Foods
  • InHarvest
  • Ozery Bakery
  • Dr. Kracker
  • Kellogg's
  • Popsalot
2. Share #WholeGrainsMonth on Social Media

Tell us how you're celebrating and help us spread the word on social media! Use the #WholeGrainsMonth hashtag and tag the Oldways Whole Grains Council on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to inspire your network of followers to join in (and to nominate their favorite charities for our giveaway, too!). Share photos of your Stamped products and tag them with #showustheStamp!
3. Make Your Own Whole Grain Donation to a Local Food Bank

Make a company donation to a local food bank for the month of September, or commit your company to regular monthly donations of whole grain product, and then tell us about it. Maybe you're already donating regularly, which is fantastic! We want to hear all about it, so please let us know about your efforts to get more whole grains into more hands (and mouths!).

Tell us how many pounds/kilos of food you donate during September either as a company or as an individual (if you don't know the weight, just tell us cases/loaves/boxes). We'll be keeping a running tally of amounts and will regularly announce progress -- and highlight participating companies, organizations, and individuals -- on social media.

Speaking of charitable giving... is your company contributing to the hurricane relief efforts in Texas? We'd love to hear what you're doing there as well! Our thoughts are with all those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
4. Feature Our "Guess the Grains" Quiz in Your Social Media

We've done all the work for you, by creating a fun " Guess the Grains" quiz you can use on your website or in social media during Whole Grains Month (or anytime!). All WGC members need to do is use the link below. Or, you can even embed the code to make the quiz show up right on your page. Curious about your own grain knowledge? Take the quiz first; you may learn a thing or two yourself!
