We need your help to raise $50,000 before August 1 to ensure that an additional attorney is available to help defend your right to freely practice your religion.

Dear Friend,

As-salaamu alaykum. (Peace be to you.)  I hope you have a blessed Friday.

We need your help to raise $50,000 before August 1 to ensure that an additional attorney is available to help defend your right to freely practice your religion.

Promoters of Islamophobia like David Yerushalmi, ACT! for America and others tried to pass anti-Muslim laws in more than 20 states recently. They are perfectly willing to sacrifice your constitutional protections to sell their fear-mongering and misinformation about Islam and American Muslims.

Can you imagine living in a state that has an anti-Islam law in its legal code? This could prevent you from exercising your choice in marriage contracts, wills or even home finance.

In 2010, we hired one new attorney to fight these unconstitutional laws. In 2011, the number of these laws has grown, creating the need for another CAIR attorney to advocate for your civil rights.

Why add one new attorney? With the blessing of God, one CAIR attorney can help turn the tide. For example, in the last few months a CAIR staff attorney:

  • Wrote the lawsuit that derailed an anti-Muslim law passed in Oklahoma.
  • Helped organize and advise a coalition that beat a proposed law in Tennessee that would have made it illegal to practice Islam in that state.
  • Secured the constitutional rights of a young man who was placed on the no-fly list while he was overseas so federal agents could question him in the absence of his legal counsel.

Stand with CAIR by donating $30, $100, $200, $500, $1,000 or more and help us make sure American democracy works for everyone. Your donation is zakat-eligible.

We need this new attorney in place by September 1. Hate groups like Stop the Islamization of America and Islamophobes such as Walid Shoebat and Robert Spencer are preparing their next campaign against Islam. We need to stand together to ensure that they fail.

If just 100 people answer this request, we can ensure that CAIR can defend the whole community. Thanks for your contribution and your support.

Salaam,

Nihad Awad
National Executive Director

P.S. Check out the great things elected officials and others have been saying about CAIR

P.P.S Your donation to CAIR's national office is zakat-eligible but not tax deductible.
