In honor of Rev. Temple's 10th anniversary with First Unity, I wanted to give you a little background on the amazing woman who we call our Spiritual Leader!

Temple Hayes is an ordained Unity minister and international motivational speaker. Rev. Hayes is currently Senior Minister and CEO of First Unity Church, that transcends religious denominations, embraces all ethnicities, and reaches beyond national borders. Temple has a love and passion for all animals.  Two of her loves are her Yorkies, Major and Digby who can be seen around campus from time-to-time spending the day with their favorite "mom".

Temple's messages are transformative, organic experiences, giving people the tools they need to discover and sharpen their own amazing abilities. She is also the author of two books, "The Right to Be You" which promotes her founding movement - Life Rights and "How to Speak Unity" by Devorss Publishing.

Beyond her role as a spiritual leader, she is also a practicing shamanic healer.  In Temple's earlier years, she was selected as an All American Softball player in 1979, with a batting average of .616.

Over the past years, Temple Hayes was elected to the Outstanding Young Women of America in 1988; The International Who's Who of American Professionals in 1997; The American Biographical Institute for Great Women of the 21st Century for 2006; and The National Association of Professional Women in 2008. She has also been honored with the Footprints Award by the National Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority for outstanding community service.

Suncoast Community Institute of Noetic Sciences (SCIONS) hosts Energy, Consciousness and Healing,

Facilitated by Douglas Bonar, with a special

presentation by Melanie Smith, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture Physician, Certified Eden Energy Medicine Advanced Practitioner, co-author of Energy Medicine: Your Personal Health and Wellness System for Today, and author of Energy Medicine For Healthy Living™ Charts.

A Potluck dinner will be from 5:00 to 6:00pm followed by the program beginning at 7pm, in Friendship Hall.

There will certainly be a buzz around the campus following the two days of Donna Eden's workshop on energy medicine at Unity!  There will be similar excitement following Lynne McTaggart's 9/20 presentation on "The Field" (of energy and consciousness) at Hillsborough Community College!!  SCIONS offers a space for further dialogue on the possibilities for our individual selves and, as importantly, our wider community: the "heart field" being cultivated around Tampa Bay.  You are cordially invited to share in the experience:  Listening and sharing as we weave together to co-create a community and a world that works for all.

IONS was founded by Astronaut Edgar Mitchell forty years ago following his walk on the moon and return to Planet Earth.  He had a mystical experience as he viewed the planet from above.  He subsequently founded IONS to provide scientific research on subjects such as spirituality, consciousness, psychic phenomena, and energy healing.  And, as exciting, we (Unity and IONS) share a strong affinity!  Several years ago AGNT (Association for Global New Thought) and IONS conducted their annual conferences together!  Science is proving what we at Unity know: we are one with the Intelligence of the Universe as each may know and name it.  For more information, contact Douglas Bonar at 727 482-4319 or visit www.Noetic.org for further information on IONS.
