FYI...Tax Code Changes

The 2023 legislative session resulted in a number of changes to Minnesota's tax code, including some that affect previous tax years. At this time, you should not amend any Minnesota returns solely to account for these changes. Major changes are summarized HERE.

In two weeks!

As a part of Visit Lakeville, the Chamber staff will be out enjoying a picnic lunch and learning more about wake boats. Come join us!  Click image to RSVP.

Meet the neighbors!

Our friends at Burnsville have invited us to join them for their August happy hour! Come out to Buck Hill and meet the neighbors!

July Edition

Pedestrian Crossing Study

The City of Lakeville is completing a citywide study of roadway crossings for people walking, rolling, or biking to determine locations for future improvements.

These could include locations with an existing crosswalk that requires additional enhancements (e.g., rectangular rapid flashing beacons) or places used by community members to cross a road that does not currently have any infrastructure in place but may require such improvements.

The study’s objective is to create a uniform process for the city to identify, plan, and implement crossing improvements for people walking, rolling, or biking throughout Lakeville. This process will be solidified from the study’s findings and lessons learned. The Lakeville Pedestrian Crossing Study began in April 2023 and will be completed by the end of the year. To give your feedback, or see updates, click on the Public Engagement tab.

We REALLY need people!

Chamber members – we are very low on donor sign ups with less than a month to go and a goal of 400 donors. Can you please (1) sign up if you are able and (2) share this out to your local network ASAP.

New required employee notices

As of July 1, 2023, employers are required to provide or display different employee notices, including:

  • Nursing Mothers, Lactating Employees, and Pregnancy Accommodations employee notice. All employers must provide this notice to each of their employees at the time of hire and when an employee makes an inquiry about or requests parental leave.
  • Packinghouse Workers Bill of Rights explanation form. All meatpacking and poultry processing employers must provide this explanation to their employees at the start of employment.

The DLI "Workplace notices and posters" webpage helps employers understand which notices and posters they are required to provide to their employees or display. The page includes translated notices and posters. Additional notices and posters will be added as they become available.

Nominations Due August 11

If you would like to nominate one of our outstanding local businesswomen for the 2023 Businesswoman of the Year, please email us at info@lakevillechamber.org. You can give us as much information as you would like, but it does not need to be a long nomination – name, business, and a short paragraph of why they should be considered.

This year’s honoree will be chosen by the Chamber Board of Directors and our two previous winners – Laurie Bolin and Patti McDonald.

Technology, gotta love it!

Pan-O-Prog is getting fancy! How cool that you can scan and follow along with the parade units, and learn a little more about your favorite unit! We have several members who will be walking down Holyoke to say hi to the crowd. See you Saturday!
