"
Yes, I said sponsor. He ain't my man. He's just the man that keeps me in a beautiful decked out condo, nice sporty whip, fabulous clothes and any other thing my heart desired. I was his little secret, and I didn't give a damn, as long as he kept me living the life of luxury."
Alexis was what most people would call a gold digger, but what she called herself was smart. Her "sponsor" was paying her way through college, every bill she had, and everything in between. In her eyes, she was winning because she could have all the amenities of being in a relationship but there were no strings attached. At least, that was what she thought.
Alexis finds herself in a whirlwind of trouble when her boo, Harry, gets caught up with his wife. That's right; he has a wife and kids at home. Not only does he have a family, but he's the pastor at a church in their community. Harry's wife threatens to ruin both of their lives if the affair doesn't end immediately.
In the midst of all the drama she has going on with Harry, she runs into an old friend, Jamari AKA J-Mac, from high school. They soon realize that after years of no contact with each other, the bond that they shared had never broken.
Between family secrets, drama and going through hell with her sugar daddy's pest of a wife, Alexis may have too much baggage to bring into a new relationship. Or is J-Mac man enough to handle everything that comes with Alexis?
**** EXCERPT ****
I pulled up to Drake's place. As usual, a bunch of the street thugs were hanging around his front porch drinking, smoking and shooting craps. Not wanting to be rude, I got out the car. It was the neighborhood I grew up in, so of course everybody knew everybody. As my legs moved me past the guys, we spoke back and forth as I passed each one.
When I made it to the bottom step, someone said, "That ass got thicker while I was gone, huh?"
At first, I didn't recognize the voice. But when I turned to the right and those green eyes were staring back at me, I stumbled and almost plastered my face on the front porch. However, my fall halted because none other than J-Mac caught me by my waist and then pulled me so close to him that I could feel his dick print in my stomach. I was freaking speechless.
All I could do was stare into the eyes of my first love, my first crush, my first heartbreak, my first wet dream, my first everything. He was sexy as hell with skin the color of peanut butter. His thick, black hair was cut low and full of waves. He had two small parts on the side of his head, one of them being slightly longer than the other. You could tell that he just had a fresh edge up. He had sideburns that connected to his goatee like Omari Hardwick when he played Ghost. Then those eyes; they were the prettiest eyes that I had ever seen in my life. They were dark green, the color of the forest.
Shit! He's sexy as fuck!
Once I was able to calm my nerves, I stepped back a little. He kept his arm around my waist, never taking his eyes away from mine.
Finally, I said, "What are you doing here, J-Mac? I thought you had a couple of more years."
"What? You not happy to see a nigga? You wanted me to stay in the pen a few more years?"
"That's not what I said. I'm just surprised to see you. Nobody told me you were coming home."
Before J-Mac even made it out of high school, he was the biggest drug dealer that our small town had ever seen. He was something like a hood legend because he had more work than a little bit, when most people were only nickel and dime hustlers. I knew that he sold heroin, crack, ecstasy pills, and weed, but it was no telling what else he had. It was because of him that I stayed in all of the latest fashions, kept my hair and nails done, and kept my shoe game on a thousand. We were never together, but he was like my best friend. I loved him more than I would have liked to admit.
The main reason why he was knee deep in the game was because his mom fell sick with cancer and they didn't have the money to pay for her treatments. He got out in the streets and did what he had to do to get that money up. Eventually, his mom died when we were seventeen, and he was ready to give up on life. I had talked him into finishing school and going to college to make his mother proud. Unfortunately, the college part never happened because a week after graduation, the FED's raided his house. The only drugs they could find were a brick of heroin, and they decided to make an example out of him for just that. He was sentenced to eight years in prison, and I hadn't seen him since.
For the first two years, I was writing him and keeping in contact, but that stopped when he decided that we shouldn't write each other anymore. He wanted me to focus on getting my future together, and he didn't want to hold me back or be a burden on me. I didn't agree with that, but after he sent me that letter, he never responded to any more of my letters. As bad as I wanted to be there for him as he had always been for me, he wouldn't allow it. Now there he was, standing there in the flesh and looking as good as ever.
He pulled me close again. This time, he locked his lips on mine, causing my arms to immediately go around his neck. We kissed for a few minutes, and then we pulled back, but not before he sucked my bottom lip into his mouth. Immediately I felt hot and bothered. About a minute later, Denise stepped out the door. She looked at me and then at J-Mac before she busted out laughing.
Then she said, "I see y'all two still got the hots for each other. You didn't get a chance to pop that pussy before you left, J-Mac. Let's see if you get a chance this time."
I stuck my finger up at her.
J-Mac laughed at her theatrics before he said, "She gon' be my wife. Watch me work." I blushed as he asked me, "Can I get your number, Lexis?"
I nodded my head yes. He pulled out his new iPhone 6 Plus. I plugged my numbers in as a new contact with the name "Lexi" before I gave it back to him. He glanced at the screen, tapped in a few things and then showed me the screen. He'd changed my name from Lexi to Future Wife. I blushed yet again, but quickly turned around and got my ass off that porch.
Once I made it to my car, I waved bye to J-Mac, slid my ass in the seat, fired up he car and got the hell out of dodge before I decided to fuck him right then and there. I looked to my right and Denise was in the passenger seat dying laughing.
"What the fuck you laughin' at, heifer?"
"Your ass. After all these years, your butt is still in love with your crush from back in the day. Who would have thought that? "
"Shut the hell up. I am not in love with him. I am in lust with him. There's a difference. I wanted him to be my first, but he had all of those hoes and looked at me like a little sister, and then his ass got locked up before I could make it happen."
"Girl, please. That nigga ain't looked at you like no sister. You were his princess, and if he hadn't gon' to prison, he would have popped that cherry and had you running behind him wagging your tail." She laughed. "I remember when the two of you were thick as thieves even when he had a girlfriend. No matter what happened, you were always his number one priority. Remember when that girl bumped you in the hall, made you drop your books, and you were about to tag that ass? J-Mac stopped you, got in the girl's face and then had one of his hoe's beat the bitch's ass. He told you that you were too smart and classy to fight."
"Hell yes, I remember it," I told her. "I was mad at his ass for days. I wanted to beat the brakes off of that bitch. I have to admit it; J-Mac has always been there for me in more ways than one. He's saved me from a lot of shit for sure, and I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for him rescuing me. Now that he's back, I need to repay him by getting a taste of that King Ding-A-Ling. I know he swingin'. Shit, a bitch can't wait for him to fulfill all of her fantasies."
We both fell out laughing and gave each other a high five before cranking up the music.
