I am emailing you today because this weekend our man Nicky No Neck returned home from visiting some “business associates” in Mexico. And as usual, when The Nicky travels, he makes some really interesting friends...folks who have access to tequila products you won't find anywhere else.

The answer: The Neck Scored HUGE again. And if you like aged spirits like whiskey, then you likely will appreciate an exceptionally aged tequila.

Codigo 1530 Extra Anejo
14 Year Old Tequila
| |
Codigo Extra Anejo 14 Year Old Tequila (750mL) is one of the oldest and rarest tequilas available. This spectacular tequila was produced using 3 times more agave than standard practice, with no additives, sugars, flavors, colors, or chemicals. The spirit was then double-barrel aged, spending the first 13 years resting in the finest French White Oak Napa Valley Cabernet wine barrels, and then spent its final year in French Cognac casks.
The tequila was then bottled at 40% abv.

Each bottle bottles comes is an individually numbered antiqued wood box, which includes a luxurious solid crystal custom bottle, Distinguished Jerusalem Cross metal stopper and 2x stemmed Riedel tequila tasting glasses.
Only 400 bottles of Codigo 14YO Extra Anejo were produced for 2022 globally.

Playboy Edition Anejo Tequila

Codigo 1530 Rare Hare Playboy Edition Anejo tequila is produced from 100% Pure Blue Weber Agave using 3 times more agave than standard practice, and no Additives, sugars, flavors, colors, or chemicals.
The tequila was then double-barrel aged, first using the finest French White Oak Napa Valley Cabernet wine barrels, then finishing the spirit in imported Spanish Sherry casks. The tequila was then bottled at 40% abv in a luxurious solid crystal custom bottle, with laser-etched logo and label.

The bottle comes in an individually numbered elegant antiqued wood box, engraved with Collaboration Story & Production description, and includes a an etched wood stopper, featuring the Playboy Bunny logo and four (4) tequila Tasting Glasses.

Blue Run High Rye Straight Bourbon | |

Blue Run Kentucky Straight High Rye Bourbon is a small-batch whiskey and the first Blue Run product with Bourbon Hall of Famer Jim Rutledge serving as the contracted Master Distiller. Rutledge distilled this batch at Castle & Key Distillery.
“For a four-year-old Bourbon, I’m impressed with the quality of this release, and I look forward to evaluating the subsequent releases of these barrels – after additional maturation,” said Jim Rutledge.
Blue Run Kentucky Straight High Rye Bourbon is distilled from a 65% Yellow Corn, 30% Rye, 5% Malted Barley mash bill.
Just 100 carefully selected barrels were chosen for this bottling, each toasted to a #4 alligator char, aged in Frankfort and Bardstown, KY. and bottled at 55.5% abv.

Tasting Notes:
Color: Light golden color with thin but durable legs
Aroma: honey toast gives way to baking spices–nutmeg, ginger–that tickle the nose a bit.
Palate: sweet and a bit earthy, with alternating impressions of trailside blackberries and pu-erh tea.
Finish: rye spice accompanied by the heat from the 111 proof fading into a gingery-sweet finish.

About Barrel no. 752955: Spent about 4 years and 7 months on the 5 floor of the Rickhouse BE27. It was next to a window so it saw some of the greatest temp changes available in Central Kentucky. The #4 char on the barrel was able to work the rye white dog into the fine whiskey it is today. | |

Tasting Notes:
Hits of spice on the front end. However it is by no means over spiced. The finish is very elegant with notes of dark chocolate on the palate. This is a Rye that will fool many. Put it in a tasting and wow some friends for most will think this drinks like a great bourbon. This whiskey would be a great whiskey to drink with dessert.

Born 40 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, George A. Dickel was an established Nashville merchant when he entered the whisky business. Dickel grew his reputation for selling the smoothest, most mellow spirits in the region.
George Dickel preferred whisky made in the winter months more than summer months because he felt it made the whisky taste smoother, so the company began advertising their Geo. A. Dickel’s Cascade Tennessee Whisky as “Mellow as Moonlight.” The whisky is chilled before undergoing the charcoal-mellow filtration known as the Lincoln County Process. This extra step smooths out the flavor and Dickel is still the only Tennessee distillery to do it.

Tasting Notes:
Aroma: A delicious aroma of vanilla, caramel, oak, cinnamon, fresh fruit/ apple, cherry notes followed by whifs of custard note as the whiskey is swirled in the glass. Hints of candied fruit and vanilla cinnamon roll. This whisky brings a lot to the table on the nose. There is a definite richness that comes from 15 years of age.
Body/ Mouthfeel: medium body with thick mouthfeel and long legs
Palate: flavors of caramel, cinnamon, oak and cherry.
Finish: Long finish of cinnamon, oak, with a hint of cherry.

Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon

This expression is the Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon. With a proof of 115.9 it is not for the faint at heart. It is a big bourbon with a long finish.
We suggest letting this bottle settle for a week or two after the first pour. After some air and time, it hits you in the face with great flavors and a gentle sweetness. The finish is spectacular and worth it. There is plenty of vanilla, dark cherry, and oak on the palate.
This single barrel is a gem and should be enjoyed by all but only 100 bottles form of this barrel are left in existence.

Yellowstone Bourbon is produced by Limestone Branch Distillery Master Distiller Stephen B Beam, a 7th generation distiller who created a great product with this 5 year old single barrel Whiskey barreled on 11/20/2017.
We had the great privilege to to taste many barrels and selected this one to be bottled at 57.5% abv, and many of us on the tasting panel described this barrel as one of the best we've ever tasted from Limestone Branch. We think that In a blind taste test it could rival many great bourbons out on the market.

The Three Chord folks will tell you that, first and foremost, they are whiskey blenders. They seek out the finest casks from distillers around the United States, and combine them to create whiskey nirvana.
But every once in a while, they will find a barrel that is so spectacular...so compelling...so utterly unique and delicious they refuse to blend it with other barrels. Instead, they bottle the barrel solo, allowing the exceptional characteristics of the specific barrel to riff on its own, and make incredible music with your tastebuds.
This is one of those barrels, distilled in 2017, then rested for five (5) years in American Oak barrels hand-selected by the Three Chord Master Blender / Distiller Ari Sussman.

We collected charismatic casks of American White Oak, with a few European Oak thrown in for culture, all of which had previously held either scotch or wine.
The cask interiors were shaved down and then heavily re-charred before we filled them with our golden 11 - year single malt whisky for maturation.

"...some peat, chocolate, and treacle on the nose, with a hint of red berry and a creaminess that just waves hello in passing. The berry notes, however, pull up a chair in the mouth, complemented by pungent, peaty, woody, and spicy tones on the palate, inferring a pleasing chocolaty sensibility.
One could argue that the glowing, lingering, spicy, and simply sensational finish is precisely the pinnacle of what human evolution was leading up to this entire time. It’s like a mouthful of Scottish poetry, pairing superbly with the steak, obviously, but I aver you’ll find it just as pleasing with any of the Seven Delicious foods."
