Menagerie a Trois at Cove Street Arts

Cove Street Arts presents Menagerie a Trois, showcasing the work of Maine artists Susan Amons, Lisa Houck and Richard Remsen. This show brings together animal-themed artwork with an eye toward the winter season. Colorful mosaics, paintings and detailed prints bring a sense of whimsy and joy to the exhibit which aims to highlight "artists’ ancient and ongoing urge to represent and memorialize our planet’s non-human cohabitants." The gallery is open Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.  5:30 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cove Street Arts is located at 71 Cove Street, Portland, ME. For more information, please visit here.

Passages: Stephen Hamilton at LaiSun Keane

LaiSun Keane presents Passages: Stephen Hamilton which features the art of Stephen Hamilton, a Boston-based artist who incorporates both Western and African techniques in his work. According to an artist statement, this series "examines the movement between adolescence and adulthood, adulthood and elderhood, as well as life, death, and rebirth in African and African-American folklore and philosophy." Hamilton's artwork is vibrant, captivating and steeped in history and meaning. The gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. — 6 p.m., Sunday, 11 a.m. — 4 p.m., or by appointment. LaiSun Keane is located at 460C Harrison Ave C8A, Boston, MA. Cindy Rizza: Habitats at Rochester Museum of Fine Art

The Rochester Museum of Fine Arts presents Cindy Rizza: Habitats a solo show that features inviting and comforting oil paintings of familiar domestic items. Cindy Rizza's paintings "delicately [render] everyday domestic objects we use to create a sense of security- their utilitarian and decorative functions act to create a sanctuary." Her work simultaneously brings a sense of warm nostalgia and chilling loss.
