Early 19th and 20th centuries it was a rite of passage for seasoned travelers to hunt these large, beautiful, yet extremely dangerous animals.
Everybody from American presidents to European royalty and heads of state came to Africa to shoot the Big Five Game.
We still go and "hunt" these animals... we just shoot with a different method, now 'shooting' is done through a camera lens.
