“The most ordinary things,
the most common and familiar,
if we could see them in their true light,
would turn out to be the grandest miracles.”
~Michel de Montaigne

Where do you keep your toothbrush?
What do you do with your plate after dinner?
How long can you take a shower?

For most of us, these questions are easy to answer. We have our routines and familiar ways of doing things in our homes. And because of this, we can easily take for granted the comfort that comes along with knowing that this is just how things are.

For many kids in foster care who are often on the move, there is nothing familiar, no comfort in knowing that
this is just how things are.

Chris aged out of foster care more than 20 years ago but he still remembers the confusion over where to put his toothbrush each time he had to move to a new home. It was stressful. Because it wasn't just about the toothbrush. It was a reminder that this wasn't familiar; this wasn't home.

Take a moment to read some of these very simple wishes from kids who are looking for that sense of comfort right now.  Because sometimes it is the ordinary things that really can be the grandest miracles.

Take Comfort,
