Wheaton Redevelopment Project on Lot 13

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation will update the community on updated sketch plans for the Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission building and the public town square to be located on parking lot 13 in Wheaton, MD.

First Annual Montgomery County GreenFest

17th Annual Paws in the Park Dog Walk and Festival - This event supports the Montgomery County Humane Society's work to rescue, care for and adopt homeless animals that it pulls from overcrowded public shelters, as well as a host of animal enrichment, humane education and community outreach programs to help the community care for pets and keep them in their homes and out of shelters.     "Montgomery College Support Services for Immigrants and Adult Students" Montgomery College will host an information session on "Montgomery College Support Services for Immigrants and Adult Students"on March 5th, 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Rockville Campus. Hospice Caring Volunteer Training-  Hospice Caring, Inc. will provide a three-day training March 10th, 11th and 12th, 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. each day for new hospice caregivers and bereavement volunteers.  The training covers topics such as communication and active listening, understanding grief, cultural competency, and self-care. Teen Substance Abuse: What Parents Need to Know!! Teen substance use does not discriminate by race, socioeconomic status, or talent. Every child is at risk! You can play a key role in preventing your teen from using alcohol and other drugs. Young Leaders Needed !! Apply for Youth Leadership Montgomery Program-   Youth Leadership Montgomery invites interested youth to come out to their informational session on March 19th, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.  The Youth Leadership Montgomery Program empowers students with the skills necessary to achieve success in all facets of their lives.  At this informational session youth will get to hear what program graduates have to say about how they benefited from the program and also get any questions answered by the program staff.  For more information about the program and how to register and submit and application please click here.

Van Hollen Service Academy Forum 2015Congressman Chris Van Hollen invites all interested 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students and their parents to his Service Academy Forum on March 19th,  7:00p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Representatives from all different academies will be present to answer questions about their application processes and admission requirements.  To learn more and to view the different academies that will be present at this forum view flyer.

MID-COUNTY BOARDS & COMMITTEES

 

The  Mid-County Citizens Advisory Board  -their February meeting will be rescheduled for Tuesday, March 3rd  at 7pm at the Mid-County Regional Center located at 2424 Reedie Drive, 1st floor conference room. Councilmember Floreen will be in attendance as well as Interim Director of the Animal Services Division, Don Johnson.
