June 2021

You can apply to multiple SBIR/STTR agencies

You can submit the same project to multiple agencies to increase your chances of securing SBIR/STTR funding — as long as you indicate that you have multiple submissions in review with overlapping scope. (But remember: you can only accept funding from one agency.)

Virtual or In-person training? Pros and Cons
Virtual learning is far more flexible and can be a much better use of your time. But in-person training creates social interaction and can drive focus. So, which works better?

"From the Sources’ Mouth"
The September 2021 All-Agency Event
September 14 - Granting Agencies
September 15 - Contract Agencies
September 16 - DOD and Components

This virtual SBIR/STTR training event will feature program managers from all 11 agencies. You’ll get a 30-minute overview of the agency’s mission and tips for creating a successful proposal. Q&A and sign-ups for one-on-one’s with agency officers will follow. More information coming soon — in the meantime, put it on your calendar!

Are you an innovator, entrepreneur,
researcher or small technology firm?
Then don’t miss this opportunity!

Register now for the 2021 National SBIR Week
July 19 - 23, 2021

The 2021 National SBIR Week is a virtual event connects entrepreneurs working on advanced technologies to the country’s largest source of early stage funding — the SBIR/STTR programs. They provide more than $4 billion in funding to small businesses each year in a wide range of technology areas administering over 7,000 new
awards each year.

This FREE event lets you participate in live streaming sessions and provides access to meet virtually with program decision makers from 20+ invited agencies.

SAM UPDATE REMINDER

The SAM.gov registration is transitioning away from using a DUNS number. If you are applying to a contracting agency, you must have your SAM registration indicate that you want to be eligible for both Grants and Contracts.

Starting in April 2022, the SAM registration will drop the DUNS number as part of the registration process and will issue a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI). SAM will be replacing DUNS on 4/2022 and will begin issuing the new UEI (Unique Entity Identifier), which is similar to a CAGE code, on 5/24/2021.
