They will know we are Christians by our love.
When I first saw our Allisonville bumper stickers that say, "not that kind of Christian," I knew they were talking about Christians that are known by their hatred. Way too often, the loud voices of exclusion drown out the quiet whispers of love and grace. But at Allisonville Christian Church, we strive to amplify those whispers into a chorus of acceptance and compassion.
Join us on June 8 at Indy Pride to show what it means to be Christians—people known not for who we exclude, but for who we include. Join our voices of love and acceptance.
There are many ways to help both on June 8 and before. Click on the link below to learn more and let Pastor Sarah know that you're interested in helping out if you haven't already.

Informational Meeting to Review Proposed Bylaws Revisions
Please join us in the sanctuary or on Zoom on Sunday, May 19 at 12:15 PM for an information session covering proposed bylaws revisions that will be considered by the Church Council in June.
Ara Nelson-Mercer, ACC Council Vice-chair, has been leading a revision of the bylaws to make updates to better reflect current practices and needs. The bylaws were last revised in 2014, so a revision every decade or so seems prudent.
The Executive Committee, Elders, and Council have already provided input. We would now like to provide an opportunity for the congregation to provide feedback.
The proposed bylaw revisions will be emailed out prior to the May 19 meeting to allow members time to review the proposed changes before the meeting. At the meeting, major changes will be highlighted, and then, there will be a time for questions/feedback from members.
Currently, ACC Bylaws state that bylaw revisions are voted on by Council and then brought to the Congregation for notification. In an effort to have greater opportunities for congregational participation, we are holding this meeting prior to Council’s vote in June.
If you are unable to attend and have feedback or questions, please send it to anelsonmercer@gmail.com and bunderwood@allisonville.org by May 20.

On Sunday, May 26, we’ll be starting a sermon series based on the hit television series “The Office.” This sermon series, much like the show, will invite us to reflect on finding beauty in ordinary things, and how the most seemingly ordinary things can often reveal the most divine presences.
As part of this sermon series, we’ll be gathering for a church pitch-in after the second service on June 2nd. ACC will provide fried and grilled chicken. Below, we have a sign-up for sides, veggies, and desserts. If your last name begins with A-Q, plan to bring a side or vegetable dish. If your last name begins with R-Z, plan to bring a dessert. If you need help signing up, call (317-849-3957) or email (szuniga@allisonville.org).

Our weekly look at scripture starts again at both 9 am (in person) and 7 pm (via Zoom). We'll dig back into Genesis, but newcomers are welcome. There's no homework involved or prior knowledge required. The goal of our study time is understanding the biblical story - and how it connects to our stories better.

This is part of our grant from the Calvin Institute for Christian Worship, which allows us to provide free copies of the book to participants. They will be available in the narthex beginning this Sunday (5/5). The class begins on June 2nd and will run through August 18th.
