Chicago Ball
Don’t miss out on Chicago ball-- Registration closes January 7th! Softball with a fun and exciting twist for men and women. Join us for our inaugural season at Willow Pass Park ballfields.

City offices will be closed on January 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Preschool Open House
Explore your future preschool classroom for the 2022/23 school year at Baldwin Park or Centre Concord. Learn program highlights and meet our wonderful preschool teachers. The City of Concord Parks & Recreation's preschool program has been serving the community for over 30 years, providing classes that encourage children to play, learn and grow in an age-appropriate setting.

This is a great opportunity to preview the program before registration opens for the 2022-23 school year on March 16, 2022.

Just a reminder that the Winter/Spring 2022 Activity Guide and City News is available at each of our community centers and online.

Planning an indoor special event in 2022? Look no further than the Concord Senior Center, conveniently located in Baldwin Park near downtown Concord.

When you arrive, you’ll find ample parking, an inviting grassy lawn and patio. Inside, a comfortable lobby leads to the the main event space, Wisteria Hall, which boasts a stage and space for banquet dining and dancing for up to 190 guests. An attached full-service kitchen and audio/visual equipment are included in your rental package. To provide maximum flexibility and event day success, our facility allows you to secure your own event vendors while providing support from on-site staff. Don’t wait, book now to host your next memorable special event!
Inclusive Bowling
After an extended break during the pandemic, we are happy to announce that the Inclusive Recreation Bowling program will be offered once again! Join us at Clayton Valley Bowl for an opportunity to meet new people or hang out with old friends. Bowling shoes are included for players. This program is designed for adults (18+) with disabilities. The Concord Parks & Recreation Department is currently recruiting for the following part-time positions:

Are you starting to think about a summer job? Summer positions at Camp Concord, our local day camps, Concord Pool and other specialty positions will be opening throughout the months of January and February 2022 so check back often at the City Employment site.
AARP Tax Aide
Volunteers will be available to assist with your taxes, suggest tax breaks, deductions and refunds. Tax assistance will be available Tuesdays and Wednesdays (February-mid-April) at the Concord Senior Center from 9a.m. to 4p.m. Service is free of charge and there is no age or income requirement.
 
To make an appointment, please call 925-405-5234 in early January. Please leave a message and a Tax Aide Volunteer will return your call.

Breakfast Round the World
Get an international culinary education with Breakfast 'Round the World! Your child will learn to make Moroccan breakfast falafels, Argentinian breakfast tostadas, African donuts, and more!
Ninja Nights
In need of a date night? This drop off program will have your kiddos learning ninja skills and playing games in a supervised and safe environment. With The Veranda around the corner, this program provides the perfect night out opportunity!
Spanish for Children
Get your child introduced to speaking Spanish at a young age! They will learn basic conversation, grammar, days of the week, holidays and more through games and music.

Chair Yoga & Meditation
Restore your mind, body, and spirit with yoga and meditation. Begin your journey with the breath, gentle stretches, moving into poses that bring strength and flexibility. Flowing into Yoga Nidra, which is a healing meditation practice that deeply relaxes and calms.
Vision Board Workshop
Are you ready to get clarity on your goals and dreams? In this workshop, you will create a beautiful board that captures your vision for your health, relationships, career, time, and finances. You'll learn exactly what a vision board is and how to use it to take steps to reach your goals and dreams.
French for Beginners
Learn to speak and read French in a fun and easy way, with interactive games, and group activities. With a focus on French for travelers, this class approaches grammar fundamentals, and learning to communicate in basic French. We will cover gender, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and more, while discovering the French language and its culture.

Marcia is a guest pickleball instructor at various country clubs around the Bay Area. She is available for private and semi-private lessons, clinics, classes and the popular 'Will to Drill' sessions. In addition, Marcia is a Registered Dietitian in private practice in Pleasant Hill, CA specializing in eating disorders & weight management.

All trips will begin at the Concord Senior Center for morning pick-up and will end at the Senior Center for drop-off at the end of the trip. Tour San Francisco’s Chinatown with Craig Smith

San Francisco’s Chinatown is the oldest, largest, and most beautiful Chinatown in North America. Join us for a full day of sights and sounds in Chinatown, a city within a city, where an ancient culture from the other side of the world survives and flourishes. For lunch, you will be delighted with local cuisine at the Hunan Homes Restaurant. Your day will be complete with time to shop the many unique shops of the area.
A Day in Old Sacramento Tour
March 10, 9:45 am – 5:30 pm,

Rio City Café is situated in beautiful historic Old Sacramento, overlooking some of the most prominent landmarks in Sacramento, including spectacular views of the historic Tower Bridge and the Ziggurat (pyramid) building. Following lunch, you will walk to the neighboring ramp and board the Hornblower yacht for a one hour narrated historic Sacramento River cruise. After your cruise enjoy a bit of free time in Old Sacramento.

The City of Concord continues to follow state and county guidelines regarding COVID-19 restrictions and safety precautions. Recent Contra Costa Health Services health orders directly impact our City recreation programs and services as follows:
  • Entry into any City facility requires a face covering
  • All classes, programs and events held at indoor City facilities require wearing a face covering unless actively eating or drinking
  • For all indoor event rentals serving food/drink, the individual renting the facility is required to verify that guests (age 12 and older) shows proof of COVID vaccination or a negative test result before entering the facility

If required to show proof of vaccination or negative test results, please have have your vaccination card, copy or photo of card or negative test results ready upon request. The California Department of Public Health has a quick and easy way to show your vaccination record--go to myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov to get your digital card today!
