A New Roof for New London's 1833 Custom House Museum!
| |
Water was reported 'leaking in buckets' through the then-new roof in 1836.
We need the roof replaced!
In fact, replacing the roof and once-&-for-all keeping the water out will be the most-significant repair we possibly can make!
Please donate & be a Charter contributor to our New Roof campaign. https://gofund.me/c8238f7d

I'd like to heartily thank the many talented artists who performed at the Custom House on Friday -- it was spectacular and so much fun! We had musicians performing from 11 AM until 7 PM. Clips are posted on both the Custom House and NLMS facebook pages.
The idea behind the day is that everyone should make music, so on Make Music Day we make a point of asking the crowd to contribute a tune between acts. One spectacular artist to step-up was Sam Nzimela, originally of South Africa. Sam played and sang a haunting original song using tribal chants (he is of the same tribe as Nelson Mandela -- Xhosa-speaking Tembu people). What a lovely memorable addition to our day.

Facebook New London Ledge Light for restoration updates, summer tours & other announcements. The LLF reports that lighthouse landing will be repaired this week. In July, important restoration work will take place. For safety and insurance concerns, that means that visits out to the lighthouse will be delayed at least until August!
