Dear friends,
It was so overwhelming - and good - to be with you last Sunday. What a gift it was to hear the powerful words of our sister, Minister Blyth Barnow. Thank you for holding me through the tears, exhaustion, and fear. It was good to be home.
I look forward to this first Sunday of Lent, the season during which we'll embrace the theme of LAMENT. Bring your courage - bring your grief - and we shall journey into the desert hand in hand.
You are not alone, beloved. We are not alone. Though we may be assailed by doubts and criticisms and insecurities, we are no less beloved of the Most High - imperfect and yet most precious.
See you Sunday, I hope.
-Pastor Alissia
PS--The above Lenten Rose is from Julie Mulroy's garden
that bloomed right on Ash Wednesday. Amazing.

COVID-19 update: As of May 11, 2023, both the WHO and USA ended their declarations of Covid-19 as a public health emergency. We continue to trust in the love and goodwill of this community to care for self and neighbor with health and safety in mind. As such, we continue to defer to each individual’s conscience regarding the use of masks at UCG and will maintain our ‘mask only’ seating in the Sanctuary. Should you have any questions or concerns about our practice, please contact the church office. | |
A note from the Property Committee:
Soon, Columbia Gas will begin a project to replace all of the natural gas lines on both sides of West Broadway in Granville. The crews will not be working on the weekends so church parking may not be impacted. However, be aware that traveling and parking on West Broadway during the week in the coming months will be tricky.

A reflection shared after seeing our missing Pride flag...
I don’t know how many times people have said to me, when they realize the church I go to is the one with the flag, how much seeing that flag every day 365 days a year has meant to them. When a father and young male-presenting adult child came up to sign the reproductive rights petition one day when we had a table and tent on the lawn, the younger, possibly trans, man looked up, pointed at the flag and said, see Dad, this is the church I was telling you about. The father asked me if I was part of the church and I said yes and he looked me straight in the eyes and said “ thank you.” I don’t remember where they were from, but not Granville.
