Join us for worship at 10 AM this Sunday

in person or online (via Zoom).

From the Pastor

Friends,

It has been a full week (and FUN week!) of VBS here in Granville. I can't believe this is already my third rodeo! I cherish the opportunity to work with the children in our community, as well as co-teach alongside Dave Ball. And, if you haven't heard, Kim Ball was the camp emcee this year. She was GREAT!

This Sunday, we'll continue on with our PRIDE AND JOY theme, and the hunt for 'Rainbow Jesus' is ON! Julie York found him last Sunday - might you be the one to find him this week? You'll only know if you come.

So, COME! I hope to see you as we celebrate Lyn and Mike Robertson, bless our fathers, and join together in community.

-Pastor Alissia

OPEN HOUSE FOR THE ROBERTSONS

Sunday, June 16

Please join us at the open house honoring Lyn and Mike Robertson at UCG on Sunday, June 16th from 11:30am to 1:30pm. As many of you may know, Lyn and Mike have been life long members, competently serving in multiple roles at UCG. They are moving their permanent residence to Massachusetts to be closer to their two children’s families, including four delightful young grandchildren. Please help us celebrate them with fun, food and fellowship that day.

CARD SALE

Have you been anticipating some new stationary??

Summer card designs are here and a five-pack can be yours for $5. There are five new designs of Southwest scenes to inspire your nature selves or to pass along to others who might appreciate them.

The funds from the last card sale funded our butterfly garden by the annex and we are excited to offer a new set that can hopefully continue to help enhance UCG.

Thanks for your support!

Board Meeting Sunday, June 23 After Church

2024 ONA National Gathering

We are excited to announce that registration for the 2024 National Gathering is NOW OPEN! Please join us September 18-23, 2024 in Cincinnati, OH. You can register now at this link: 2024 ONA National Gathering Registration.

Early Bird Registration:

  • Cost: $300
  • Includes: 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and a ticket to our gala with a banquet meal!
  • Payment Plan: We are offering the option to pay in three $100 installments.

We encourage each church to send at least two representatives or ambassadors to the gathering. This event is a unique opportunity for churches to receive guidance on organizing and expanding their ONA missions. Attendees will be among the first to hear about and contribute to the future direction of the coalition.

We are also working to organize churches into geographical networks, and your representatives will play a key role in this initiative. Additionally, this gathering provides a valuable opportunity for representatives to meet others in the field, fostering connections and sharing experiences that will enrich and inspire our collective efforts as we set the tone and goals for the next phase of the Open and Affirming journey.

We look forward to seeing you in Cincinnati!

Youth Plant Sale: Saturday, June 29

The youth will be holding a plant sale on the church lawn to raise funds for summer camp in North Carolina. Sale is to be held the same day as the Great Granville Garage Sale on June 29.

We need your donations of plants (indoor AND outdoor), potting containers, oversized mugs, seeds and soil - and these can be brought to the church on our work day, Sunday, June 23 after worship. If you need assistance to dig plants or move pots, or you can't drop off supplies on our work day, contact Julie Reiswig or Julie York to arrange for young people to come to your house. (Non-plant supplies can be dropped off at church any time if left by the driveway stairs to the basement.)

This is an excellent opportunity to say goodbye to those tired houseplants and find them a new home! Then choose some new ones at the sale to brighten your home!!

BYC YOUTH CAMP

June 30 - July 5

Camp is for youth at our church who are going into 7th grade next fall, up through this spring's high school graduates. This year's chaperones are Andy McCall, Ruth Satterfield and Julie Reiswig, and we anticipate taking 10 of our church's teenagers to Laurel Ridge in North Carolina for a week of fun. There will be about 100 people there from ten congregations around the country. These are churches much like ours, some who have also been ostracized for their stance on LGBTQ issues, many who are also members of the Alliance of Baptists. The community we build there every summer is like no other, with lots of room for youth voices to shape the experience. We'll be having a campfire with s'mores on the mountain top, a community celebration with a dance and games, a Variety Show with youth performances of every shape and size, and days full of play and conversation.

If you want to be part of our send off, come to church on Sunday, June 30 between 7:00 and 7:30 am to paint a handprint on our vehicles, and join in our send-off circle of hopes for the week.

COVID-19 update: As of May 11, 2023, both the WHO and USA ended their declarations of Covid-19 as a public health emergency. We continue to trust in the love and goodwill of this community to care for self and neighbor with health and safety in mind. As such, we continue to defer to each individual’s conscience regarding the use of masks at UCG and will maintain our ‘mask only’ seating in the Sanctuary. Should you have any questions or concerns about our practice, please contact the church office.

A note from Columbia Gas:

Main line work has been completed on West Broadway to the intersection of Broadway and Plum, and about 300 feet east of Plum Street on the north side of Broadway Street and Plum Street up to College Street.

Service line work should wrap up around mid to late June for Broadway Street and will not be working on Plum Street during the roundabout project. The plan is to tentatively resume services in Granville in mid to late August.
