Villa Charities in partnership with Vibrant Women’s Voices celebrates 2023 International Women’s Day on Wednesday, March 8 with a presentation that reflects on the stories of a group of Italian-Canadian women. From professional figures to volunteers, community leaders to authors, these women share their perseverance, stamina, courage and determination in a world where their presence has not been valued, or their efforts and contributions recognized. Italian-Canadian Beatrice Carpino (singer) and Adolfo De Santis (pianist) are back, this time performing a selection of Italian favourites! The classically trained duo adore exploring the musical nuances of the songs of Italy. Our Winter Landscapes Painting Workshop starts on Wednesday, March 1. Join us for a 4-session “mini” workshop where you’ll learn how to paint beautiful winter landscapes using different techniques for oil and acrylic paint. This workshop is suitable for intermediate to advanced students with some prior experience.

Looking for a new hobby? Why not try your hand at textile painting and decoration! This 8-week course will provide you with a basic introduction to the traditional practice of hand-painted textiles. You’ll then go on to develop skill and confidence in surface pattern design through personal guidance by the instructor. Course runs on Thursdays, April 6 – May 25, at 6:30 to 9:30pm.

After a successful tour in Italy and Romania - DopoLavoro Teatrale is back in Toronto with a new creation: “La Rivoluzione Siamo Noi - The Change Maker”; a project by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto with DopoLavoro Teatrale. “The Revolution is Us” is an act of social sculpture that lies at the intersection of performance art, theatre, exhibition, interactive novel - and citizenship. Intertwining the unfinished project by Pier Paolo Pasolini “Porno-Theo-Kolossal” with the photo The Revolution Is Us by Joseph Beuys, this piece allows you to become a change maker.
