Join us tomorrow for “Serenata Italiana: A Lume di Candela” - an experience like no other! Surrounded by candlelight, Italian-Canadian tenor Giacomo Folinazzo with special guest vocalist Jessica Lalonde will lend their voices to a repertoire of canzoni, arias, duets, jazz songs and popular songs in English and Italian.
Accompanied by the warm tone of a cello and the timeless sound of the piano, Folinazzo and Lalonde lend their highly distinctive voices, passion, and versatility to this acoustic concert, awarding the audience with a unique intimate experience.
Giacomo Folinazzo - Tenor
Born in Welland and raised in Italy, Folinazzo been a singer since the age of 16. He has been an active performer in Canada for the past decade, performing hundreds of shows at the Fallsview Casino, festivals and corporate events in a local band called Lp3. He is currently transitioning from the rock genre to singing opera tenor (bel canto) style. Under the guidance of vocal coach Mary-Lou Vetere, he has not only gained a strong vocal technique but an “insatiable love for opera.”
Jessica Lalonde - Vocalist
Jessica Lalonde has spent her life exploring music in all its shades and facets. Raised on Country and Rock & Roll, she fell for jazz during her formative years. Lalonde began singing around her hometown of Midland in small jazz duos and trios, and for her local Big Band. Lalonde continued to explore and hone her instrument by delving into Bel canto singing under the guidance of Metropolitan soprano Aprile Millo, and in 2015 she had the privilege of performing in Italy alongside Ms. Millo for a series of concerts benefitting the Museo and Comittato Renata Tebaldi, the Amici delle case di Puccini, and Villa Verdi.

Final Two Films for Italian Movie Nights! | |
Join Villa Charities, TLN and Caffe Cinquecento for some laughs under the stars as we present the final two hit comedies from Italy with our Italian Movie Nights series. When Antonio passes the bar, Toti gives him an offer of becoming a partner in the firm with one condition: he must marry Isabel, Toti’s Argentinian lover who needs the Italian citizenship.

See Our Newest Exhibition: Bayefsky’s “The Streets of Italy” / “The World of Tattoos” | |
We invite you to experience this extraordinary collection of paintings from the artist’s ‘Italian Series’ and ‘Tattoo Series’, created during the 1970s and 1980s.
Aba Bayefsky (1923-2001) was a Toronto-based artist who began drawing at the age of 16 in Toronto’s Kensington Market. He became an Official War Artist with the RCAF in 1944 and an instructor with the Ontario College of Art (now known as OCADU) from 1957 to 1989, influencing and inspiring generations of Canadian artists. Bayefsky was appointed to the Order of Canada in 1979.
The exhibition continues until Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery.
Presented in collaboration with Emilio Goggio Chair in Italian Studies, University of Toronto and sponsored by The Lindy Green Family Charitable Foundation.

“Storie, strane storie” – An Intensive Theatre Program and Experimental Theatrical Performance | |
Villa Charities and Istituto Italiano di Cultura of Toronto, in partnership with Ponte tra Culture Society, presents “Storie, strane storie” (“Stories, Strange Stories”). To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of famous Italian writer and dramatist Dino Buzzati, this 5-week intensive theatre program invites individuals of any age, nationality and experience level to come together, connecting through the Italian language and dramatic theatre for a unique social experience featuring ‘strange’ spaces and ‘strange’ stories.
Italian theatre actor and director, Gianluca Barbadori, will lead the intensive theatre course and direct the final theatre performance.
Orientation sessions begin on September 12 and theatre classes begin on September 19.

Kids Can Learn Italian with our Italian for Toddlers Classes | |

Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed | Do you know that our Meals on Wheels program (MOW) delivers about 600 hot Italian meals a week? These ready-to-eat meals go to people in our community that request the service. Villa Colombo Toronto is looking for volunteer drivers for the Meals on Wheels delivery. Our program runs Mondays to Fridays, 10:00am-1:00pm with a minimum commitment of one day a week.
