On October Mending Wings held a socially-distanced Trunk o' Treat as a community event for all Native teens and their siblings on the reservation. The staff and Youth Council dressed up and decorated their cars (featured here are Youth Council President & Vice-President Carmen Buck and Dewy Bill. People drove through in their cars and we handed them bags of goodies. It was a lot of fun! We put a smile on about 200 youth faces that night. A big thank you to our donors who allow events like this to happen.
Featured in the middle between two teens is Anna Miller. Anna is our Slam Trips Director and is involved in many different programs of Mending Wings. She is an integral part of all we do.

In August Anna contracted Covid-19 and when into the hospital on a ventilator that same month. During her 2 month stay she flatlined twice. But Creator saw fit to bring her through and at the end of October she was cleared and released to come home.

We are so thankful to Creator for allowing Anna to stay with us. She will be back to work with us all in January. Thank you to all who prayed for her during these hard times.
THE CORONA VIRUS IMPACT
Covid-19 Impact on the Yakama Nation
Native people have experienced covid-19 infections 3.5 times greater than the general population and covid hospitalizations and deaths 5 times greater than the general population. Our reservation is no different and has been hit hard by this pandemic. On top of several of our students, staff and Board members contracting covid we have also lost a number of elders due to this virus. When we lose our elders at this rate it is devastating as they hold our sacred teachings, songs. language and stories. We are feeling the effects of this already. Please pray for our Yakama Nation.
