Congrats to CoSE's Outstanding Faculty!
Recently, Carrie Bottenberg, assistant professor in the geosciences department, Yu Chen, professor in the mathematics and statistics department, and Heather Ray, assistant professor in the biological sciences department, were among the 2023-24 winners of the Outstanding Faculty Awards.
Carrie's award is in the Outstanding Service category. Meanwhile, Yu and Heather are both in the Outstanding Teacher category. One faculty member in each category (Teaching, Service, and Research) will be honored with a Distinguished Faculty award.

CoSE Camping Trip Aug. 23 - 25
Join us for CoSE's 3rd Annual Camping Trip for faculty and staff. Family members are welcome. Enjoy relaxing and outdoor activities with your colleagues and family during this low-key weekend getaway. You will be responsible for your own food, entertainment, and supplies.

New OSP Zoom Labs: Easier Access to Research Funding Expertise
The Office of Sponsored Programs & Support (OSP) is pleased to announce a new initiative to provide faculty and staff with easier access to research funding expertise. OSP will host regular Zoom open drop-in lab sessions, allowing researchers to connect with OSP staff in a convenient and flexible format.
The first session will be held on Wednesday, April 17, at 2 p.m. The next session is scheduled for Thursday, May 9, at 1 p.m.
During these sessions, OSP staff will be available to answer questions and provide guidance on a variety of topics related to sponsored research.

Research and Creative Activity Social/Networking Event on April 18
Faculty and staff are invited to join the Office of Research on Thursday, April 18, from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Little Wood River room (Pond Student Union building, Pocatello campus) for the Spring 2024 Faculty Research and Creative Activity Networking Social.
The event offers opportunities to connect, learn about each others' work, and meet new colleagues. There will be networking discussions on artificial intelligence, resilience and adaptation, and rural health.

Spring Retreat: A Morning of Mindfulness and Self-Compassion
The Kasiska Division of Health Sciences (KDHS) Mindfulness Program is offering a Spring Meditation Retreat: A Morning of Mindfulness and Self-Compassion on Saturday, April 27, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm MT. The retreat is being organized by Kristin Stewart Yates and Jen Miesch, teachers of the Mindful Self-Compassion course in the KDHS Mindfulness Program.

Budget Lunch and Learn Sessions
The Budget Advisory Group is launching a series of Lunch and Learn sessions for ISU faculty and staff who want to learn more about ISU’s budget and finance structures, trends, policies, and outlook. Faculty and staff are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch and attend in person. Zoom options will also be available, and sessions will be recorded and posted to the budget website.

On April 10, Idaho State University's new marketing firm, Epicosity, is hosting listening sessions for faculty, staff and students ahead of their contracted start date on June 30.

Idaho State Music Professor Dr. Scott Anderson Announces Retirement
Scott Anderson, a cherished figure within Idaho State University's music department and the arts community in the region, will retire at the end of the current academic semester, marking three decades of dedicated service to the university and its broader community. As Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Anderson leaves behind a profound legacy of musical excellence and community engagement.

We want to make sure those stories are shared publicly. Here are a few ways you can provide a news tip to help get the word out:
Use this Story Submission Form to send your news tip to the Office of Marketing and Communications.
Send an email to Logan McDougall (loganmcdougall@isu.edu) with a brief description of the news to be shared.
You are always welcome to create a draft story, submit it via the Story Submission Form, or send it to Logan. The Office of Marketing and Communications and Logan will coordinate to get the story finalized and distributed to the media outlets/platforms that best tell the story.
