August Updates and More!

The Community House is delighted to announce that Clair Beckmann has joined the Board of Directors at The Sanibel Community House

Clair Beckmann grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated first in her class with a degree in finance from the University of Missouri many many years ago.

She moved to Colorado in 1975 and enjoyed a 30-year career with JPMorgan Chase and various predecessor institutions serving in many capacities including many years as Regional President for Boulder County. She was the youngest ever President and first female President of a National Bank in the state of Colorado. After retiring from banking, she became the Planned Giving Officer for the Boulder Community Hospital Foundation.

She and her spouse have been coming to Sanibel annually since 1981 and have wintered on Sanibel for about 15 years.

Non-profit work has been a hallmark of her life and she has served on dozens of Boards and served as Board Chair of the Community Foundation serving Boulder County, Community Food Share, the Boulder Economic Council, the Louisville Chamber of Commerce, The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum, and others. Clair has been instrumental in raising funds for Hospice, Impact on Education, the Women’s Foundation of Colorado, Community Food Share, and other institutions.

Clair received the Boulder Chamber Member of Distinction Award, Community Food Share Lifetime Achievement Award, Boy Scout’s Distinguished Citizen Award, Boulder Chamber’s Businessperson of the Year Award, the YWCA’s Woman of the Year award and the Boulder Camera’s Pacesetter award among others. Passions include reading, eating, gardening, travel, Mah Jongg, PEOPLE, and seashell collecting.

Clair and her spouse, Ron Nixon aka Mr. Cheap, reside in Louisville, Colorado and Sanibel, Florida and have one married daughter in LA who blessed them with a one-year-old grandson.

Little known facts that are fun:

  • Collects skulls.
  • Provided ransom money for the Jon-Benet Ramsay kidnapping (in her capacity as Regional President for JPMorgan Chase in Boulder, CO.)
  • Collected seashells on trips to South Africa, Tonga, Fiji, Venezuela, Mexico, the Caribbean, etc. Has found about 25 Junonias.
  • Went to cooking schools in France, Thailand, Bali & Italy.

Beer and wine will be available for purchase at the Community Reunited event.
