Your contribution helps REBUILD YOUR HISTORIC SANIBEL COMMUNITY HOUSE

Dear Sanibel Friend,

Since 1927, The Community House has been “The Island Gathering Place” for both Sanibel and Captiva. We have been here for islanders for over 96 years, serving as a true “home” for Sanibel and Captiva’s civic, social and family life.

Our annual membership renewal date of November 1st quickly came and went, and while we still are not 100% functional, we would greatly appreciate your membership support. We all know that Hurricane Ian had other plans for so many of us, including you, our community friends and neighbors.

You have helped us to evolve and grow in our beautifully renovated facility. You have enabled us to continue to offer and expand our creative classes, cultural events, culinary experiences, as well as provide affordable rental space for all island nonprofits, service organizations, clubs, and private rentals, and so much more!

We receive no financial assistance from public funds or tax dollars, however each year we look to the community to help support us. And this year, more than ever we need your help. Hurricane Ian has not completely destroyed our facility, but he certainly has made it more challenging for us to recover, rebuild and reopen.

Being a member of The Community House awards you with an amazing opportunity to connect with people from all over the world who have found their “home” here on Sanibel. We were very excited about our upcoming schedule this year and were looking so forward to having you join us! We are hoping to rebuild one room at a time, so that we can begin offering classes and social gatherings again soon.

Our annual membership dues haven’t increased, although everything else around us has, especially now after Ian. An individual membership is $50 for the year, a family membership is $100, and a business membership is $150. Patron levels begin at $250 annually. We offer something for everyone! Register online by clicking below, mail in a check or call the office at 239-472-2155. We are grateful for you, our Community Members and can’t wait to see you at the House soon!

Rebuilding one memory at a time.

Thank you,

Teresa Riska-Hall
