"The Community Foundation provided a one stop shop to expedite the establishment of the legal, financial entities while providing the ongoing administrative services. A few months later, we were on stage presenting our first scholarship. It's been a rewarding 15 years, and we've never looked back."

The staff is attentive and responsive, and even though they administer countless other funds, they interact with us in a way that always makes us feel that our goals are top priority," -The Stamm Family, Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship Fund

Josh Sommers, CFOS Chairman, William J. Bratton, Jr.,
CFOS Board Member & Event Honoree,
Elizabeth Rowley, CFOS President & CEO

Congratulations to CFOS Board Member William J. Bratton, Jr. on receiving the 2017 Karen Minogue Award for Distinguished Service! Our 2017 President's Circle and Volunteer Appreciation Event was held at West Hills Country Club on Wednesday, February 15 and a great time was had by all. Thank you to all of our amazing and generous President's Circle members and volunteers for continuing to support the Community Foundation in our mission to connect people who care with causes that matter.
Bill joined the Community Foundation family as a fund representative in 2002 when he and his wife Mary established the Michelle Renee Bratton Memorial Scholarship Fund, in memory of their late daughter who perished in the tragic event of 9/11. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating student from Pine Bush High School with preference given to a student who will attend a
4-year SUNY college or university, and who is also a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the women's swimming and diving team, and/or a member of chorus. To date, their scholarship fund has awarded over $37,000 to students since its inception.
Bill and his wife, Mary, are also longtime members of our President's Circle, a group of 75 people and organizations who support our operating budget with annual donations of $1,000 or more. The modest fee we charge to administer our funds covers about 37% of our operating budget. President's Circle members like the Bratton's help us bridge that gap.

The Second Annual
Hudson Valley Gives!
May 17, 2017

Hundreds of local nonprofits from Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Sullivan, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester Counties will benefit from "Hudson Valley Gives" our region's second annual day of online giving, to be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Organized by the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region and the Mid Hudson Valley Chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals, this 24-hour online fundraising event, using the GiveGab donation platform  raised more than $147,000 for 201 local nonprofits and garnered invaluable media attention from newspapers, TV and radio. Organizers anticipate an even better response this year as the event becomes more well known. Modeled after internationally-known "Giving Tuesday," held the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, "Hudson Valley Gives" is a more regional approach that supports LOCAL causes, with monies raised staying right here in the Hudson Valley.

GiveGab will once again provide the online fundraising platform for the day, along with the planning of webinars, technical assistance and more. Their easy-to-use platform makes it simple and quick for donors to give generously and give often - all day long. For more information on GiveGab, visit their websit e here  or contact Chris Smith, GiveGab CFO, at chris.smith@givegab.com
