Meeting with Rev. Tim Hodapp, Canon for Congregations & Transitions

The start of any parish transition is a Clergy Compensation Capacity Analysis which is completed by the Episcopal Church of Connecticut (ECCT) staff of the Canon for Mission Finance and Operations. Trinity’s financial information has been requested and submitted. Rev. Tim Hodapp will meet with us on Sunday, May 19th after a 9:00 a.m. service to share feedback from the review. We will have ONE SERVICE on Sunday, May 19th at 9:00 a.m.

During this time at Trinity we will be blessed to welcome visiting priests as presiders and preachers for our 8:00 am and 10:00 am services. In order for you to get to know a bit about them before they arrive on Sunday, please take the time to read their biographies.

Please Welcome the Rev. Yejide Peters Pietersen

Trinity is delighted to welcome The Rev. Yejide Peters Pietersen as this Sunday's presider and preacher. The Rev. Yejide Peters Pietersen joined the staff at Berkeley Divinity School, the Episcopal seminary at Yale, as its Associate Dean and Director for Formation in July 2021. A graduate of The University of Michigan (B.A.) and Yale University (M.Div.), before the recent appointment, the Rev. Peters Pietersen served as vicar of St. Chad’s with St. Mary’s and St. Alkmund’s in Shrewsbury, England. Her experience also includes nine years as rector of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Briarcliff Manor, NY, associate rector of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Richmond, VA, and board leadership in organizations such as Forward Movement and Rural Migrant Ministries.

Update from the Property Team

A grounds workday was held last Saturday morning and a faithful group of volunteers participated in the clean up of various parts of Trinity's grounds. Thank you to the following people who helped: Althea Francis, Janet Wilkinson, Kate Steven, Karin Peterson, Neill Derick, Marc Weist and Peter Green. The group worked on the parking areas and the Close, which now look so much better!

Farewell to Michelle Horsley

Please make sure you stop by at Coffee Hour on Sunday May 12th to say farewell to Michelle Horsley, who is leaving Trinity after four years as Music Director of Trinity Episcopal Church. Michelle is joining the staff of the St. James's Episcopal Church in West Hartford. Thank you, Michele, for all of your efforts!

The EfM program covers scripture, church history, theology, ethics and inter-faith encounters. An Open House on Monday evening May 12 at 6:30 in the St. James’s Parish Room will serve as an introduction to the program with current group members and samples of the course materials and discussion.

Cystic Fibrosis Walk on May 18, 2024

Hello all! Kate and Drew Smith’s Cystic Fibrosis walk will again be held at Riverfront Park, Glastonbury, on Saturday, May 18th, 10 am.

Our granddaughter Sarah was born 14 years ago with Cystic Fibrosis and is doing quite well now. She has started taking the new drug Trikafta, has grown several inches and 2024 has a purple streak in her hair!

Team Strolling for Sarah does its annual walk, about 3 miles or one hour, to support the Great Strides program which raises research dollars for this genetic lung and digestion disease. The new drug Trikafta treats some of the causes for her illness and not just the symptoms.

If you cannot walk we hope you will support us at our website http://fightcf.cff.org/goto/Kate-Smith

or mail us at1898: 106 Vista Way Bloomfield, CT 06002.

Thanks so much, Kate and Drew Smith

Trinity Book Club

Trinity's Book Group will gather on Friday, May 31st to discuss Up Home: One Girl's Journey by Ruth J. Simmons. "Simmons’s evocative account of her remarkable trajectory from Jim Crow Texas, where she was the youngest of twelve children in a sharecropping family, to the presidencies of Smith College and Brown University shines with tenderness and dignity.” All are welcome to attend! The meeting will be hosted by Martha Freimuth at her home; please let her know if you plan to attend. (lems.cove@yahoo.com; 860-605-0703) It promises to be an evening of sparkling conversation and delectable treats!
