News from the Diocese

During this time at Trinity we will be blessed to welcome visiting priests as presiders and preachers for our Sunday services. In order for you to get to know a bit about them before they arrive on Sunday, please take the time to read their biographies.

Please Welcome the Rev. Zebulun Treloar

Trinity is delighted to welcome The Reverend Zebulun (Zeb) Treloar as Sunday's presider and preacher. Zeb will be with us on the first Sunday of each month through June. He was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Iowa in 2019, becoming the first openly transgender priest ordained in the Diocese. He has served children, youth, college students, and elders in ministry roles in both Iowa and Kentucky. His wife, Jamie, began her transition in 2022, and they chose to move to a state with legal protections for transgender people as waves of anti-transgender legislation have been introduced and passed in state houses across the nation. They arrived in Connecticut in September 2023, moving into an apartment in Manchester. Zeb is enjoying supply work and is an associate of St. Peter's Church, South Windsor. He will begin a Master of Social Work program at Springfield College in the fall.

Trinity Book Club

Trinity's Book Group will gather on Friday, May 31st to discuss Up Home: One Girl's Journey by Ruth J. Simmons. "Simmons’s evocative account of her remarkable trajectory from Jim Crow Texas, where she was the youngest of twelve children in a sharecropping family, to the presidencies of Smith College and Brown University shines with tenderness and dignity.” All are welcome to attend! The meeting will be hosted by Martha Freimuth at her home; please let her know if you plan to attend. (lems.cove@yahoo.com; 860-605-0703) It promises to be an evening of sparkling conversation and delectable treats!

Youth Sunday at Trinity: June 9th, 9 am

It is our custom at Trinity to recognize not just our ministries TO young people, but also the ministries OF young people among us. On Sunday 9th, we will be honoring our high school gradute, Jonathan Garcia (who has faithfully served as an acolyte since we returned to in-person worship as the pandemic eased.) We will also be acknowledging the ministries of acolytes, readers, and choristers among us, as well as those adults who minister with them. And we will recognize our Godly Play participants and volunteers.

It is also customary for us to recognize graduates of colleges and graduate schools. If you or someone you know has completed or will complete a course of study this spring, please let us know! Email the Trinity Church Office (office@trinitychurch.org) or call at 860 527 8133 before Tuesday, June 4th, so your information can be included in our bulletin.

Please join us to celebrate this day and these cherished members of our congregation!

Trinity Gardeners

Trinity Church's grounds require a significant effort to keep them looking at their best over the summer. The Property Team is looking to expand the group of people who help with this work. With this goal in mind, the group is being renamed "Trinity Gardeners". Our hope is that this will provide more visibility to the Parish about the upkeep of the grounds through periodic updates in the eVoice and on the notice boards. A further goal is to allow us to become better stewards of the memorial garden which is going to be used for services throughout the summer. If you have an interest in gardening, helping with this work is also an opportunity for fellowship with fellow parishioners as well as seeing the fruits of your labor as the plants and shrubs grow over the summer. Please contact Peter Green (pmgreen76@gmail.com) for more information or to volunteer to join "Trinity Gardeners". Thank you.
